The latest developments have led to a lot of AI-generated content shown on the web, better or worse. Now Nintendo's Doug Bowser has shared his and Nintendo's thoughts on the matter while talking to CNBC. Bowser acknowledges that there is a lot of potential with AI, and that Nintendo internally “discusses” how its tools can help the company. Bowser, however, says that it is the general belief in Nintendo that it is the developers and their artistry that makes their games great, and that Nintendo as a whole has no intention of replacing its employees with AI. From the sound of it there is a chance that Nintendo could use AI in some way to navigate boring tasks, but the developers do not go anywhere.
AI's use in games has already led to controversy
While Nintendo's thoughts on AI seem to indicate that it will be limited in its use, if it is used at all, at least for the near future, other companies have already embraced what AI can do for them. However, not everyone has been well received by society. For example, there was a counter -reaction when it was revealed it Customs calls using AI-generated assets. Players had suspected it for some time, with special suspicion that arose around certain skins and an odd sex finger hand in an image that appeared during an event.
Another example is however Inzoi. Inzoi Has a built-in AI system that allows users to do things like generating objects and structures by entering information or using an image. However, Krafton revealed early on that its AI system has been trained on “business -owned copyright” data, and AI performs the task on the user's computer without contacting an external server. This helped to lose some fans concerns, as players have not only been worried that developers are losing jobs, but also about the questionable nature of materials that other AI systems have been trained with.
Nintendo has regularly come up with unusual ideas for its consoles and games for decades and is not afraid to experiment. But at the moment, it sounds like Nintendo will continue to develop games in the traditional way, with the expertise and creativity provided by skilled developers.
