Ghost of Yotei's Atsu will get his own Magic: The Gathering as part of a special collaboration between Wizards of the Coast and Sucker Punch Productions, increasing the number of special cards. A Magic: That Gathering Secret Lair drop that contains Ghost of Yotei protagonist and several other PlayStation heroes are slated for release in late October, so collectors should be prepared if they want to snag them.
Released exclusively for PlayStation 5 on October 2, Ghost of Yotei debuted with strong sales figures, reportedly exceeding two million units sold in its first three days on the market. These three-day sales figures are quite comparable to the predecessor's, Ghost of Tsushimawhich has sold more than 13 million copies based on financial data released in September 2024.
Magic: The Gathering PlayStation Secret Lair cards include Ghost of Yoteis Atsu
In the middle of Ghost of Yoteis recent success on PS5, Wizards of the Coast has announced that Atsu will be included as a Legendary Creature card coming in Magic: The Gathering's Secret Lair x PlayStation release is slated for release on October 27th. As shared with IGN in an interview, Wizards of the Coast had originally approached Sony Interactive Entertainment with the idea of including the Ghost of Yoteis protagonist in its special PlayStation set even before the video game had been revealed to the public. The idea was pitched to Jason Connell, creative director at Sucker Punch Productions, who reportedly felt it would be a “good fit”. The result is a rare Human Rogue card that costs one blue and one generic mana, has one power and three toughness, and denies opponents from blocking creatures with a power or toughness value of one.
Along with Atsu, Ghost of TsushimaJin Sakai from Jin Sakai will also appear in the upcoming PlayStation-themed set, showing the respect that both Sony and outsiders have shown the franchise. Coming in a bit hotter than Atsu with two power and four toughness, he also costs a bit more to enter the board, requiring a generic mana and one each of white, black and blue. He also allows players to draw a card when dealing combat damage to another player, and he can give Ghost or Standoff to another controlled creature when it attacks a player that no other creature is attacking.
Also included in the Secret Lair x PlayStation release are a couple of more famous duos, including Joel and Ellie from The last of us and Kratos and Atreus from God of war franchise. Other famous PlayStation characters that make the cut are Horizon franchise Aloy and Unchartedis Nathan Drake.
