While Pikmin is not as well known as Zelda in the west, both have become popular Nintendo titles over the years. Normally, Pikmin Games follow characters like Olimar, who collect Pikmin to help them on their quest or journey. The small plant-like creatures can perform a variety of tasks and can easily be replaced if lost or killed, making them valuable assistants. The Legend of Zelda movie must be terrifying
Although this beloved fantasy series is extremely optimistic, the first film adaptation should not ignore its horror elements.
Ocarina of time modder notChase has shared a short video showing what it would look like if Pikmin were in the game. The video begins with Link leaving Castle Town and immediately pulling Pikmin out of the ground, just like you would in one Pikmin game. From there, the video switches between different scenarios, including Link driving through Hyrule Field with a veritable army of Pikmin. Link uses Pikmin to attack monsters, pick up things out of reach, move and carry items, and even fix the bridge that leads to Gerudo Valley.
What else can Link's Pikmin do?
While the aforementioned details are impressive enough on their own, notChase also took into account the colors and types of Pikmin. For example, Red Pikmin can be seen surviving in the hottest parts of Death Mountain while everyone else dies from the heat, and in another shot, most Pikmin are drowning in water, but Blue Pikmin are doing fine. Link can also organize his Pikmin on command, where the color-coordinated group can be seen marching behind him.
Unfortunately, while this mod looks like a lot of fun to tinker with, it's not available to the public. NotChase has created many Zelda mods that have fascinated fans, but it seems they are more like personal experiments for the creator. Unfortunately, that may be for the best, as Nintendo is notorious for its litigious nature and has forced many mods and fan games to be shut down over the years. Releasing a mod that combines two different Nintendo games can definitely attract the wrath of the company. For the foreseeable future, fans who want to see Link interact with Pikmin will be content to play Super Smash Bros. For those who just want the inherent crossovers in Ocarina of timethere is always Mario Easter egg or the hidden Starfox development tools.
