Important takeaways
- Megumi Fushiguro's incomplete domain expansion, Chimera Shadow Garden, has the potential for immense power.
- Hanami's unrevealed domain expansion, the Shining Sea of Growing Branches, remains a mystery in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga.
- The unseen domain expansion of Yuki Tsukumo, a special class wizard, disappointed fans due to its potential power.
In the cursed world of Gege Akutami Jujutsu Kaisenthe innate technology simply known as Domain expansion is arguably one of the most creative parts of its power system. By using a barrier, the most skilled wizards can create their own domain where their cursed techniques are not only enhanced, but they also have a guaranteed hit on their opponents.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Best Female Characters in the Show
Female characters can sometimes get sidelined in shonen anime, but Jujutsu Kaisen does these women justice.
Not every wizard or curse can use Domain Expansion, but those who can have proven to have unique and fascinating ones. However, there are quite a few characters in the series who have been confirmed to be able to use it, but never got the chance to do so. This is quite unfortunate as there is a lot of potential in their undiscovered barrier techniques that they were never able to fully demonstrate.
5 Megumi Fushiguro (Complete Version)
Chimera Shadow Garden remained incomplete until the end
- First appearance: Chapter 1 (Manga) Episode 1 (Anime)
Oddly enough, Megumi Fushiguro actually revealed its Domain Expansion during the Death Painting Arc, and its name is Chimera Shadow Garden. However, he immediately noted that it was incomplete, and he still needed to master it before he could bring out the technology's full potential.
Megumi unleashed the Chimera Shadow Garden a few more times, with her fight against Reggie Star featuring one of its most memorable uses. But the series came to an end before he even had a chance to complete it. Even Ryomen Sukuna was unable to complete this domain expansion when he took over Megumi's body, as he preferred to continue using his Malevolent Shrine instead.
The incomplete Chimera Shadow Garden allowed Megumi to fill the area with shadows that he could use to summon multiple Shikigami at once. This is already a pretty useful domain expansion, so the full version has the potential to be one of the most powerful in the entire series, especially if Megumi could use it alongside her strongest shikigami, Mahoraga
4 Hanami
Gojo exorcised this cursed spirit before they had a chance to use it
- First appearance: Chapter 10 (Manga) Episode 5 (Anime)
All four of the top Special Class Cursed Spirits had the ability to use Domain Expansion: Jogo, Dagon, and Mahito had really powerful ones, but unfortunately, Hanami never got the chance to show their own domain expansion before their demise. They attempted to use it in the fight against Yuji Itadori and Aoi Todo, but were interrupted by Satoru Gojo before it could be activated. The same wizard later exorcised them during the Shibuya Incident Arc.

Jujutsu Kaisen: 6 characters that can defeat Mahoraga
These JJK characters were able to defeat Devine General Mahoraga.
Hanami was a particularly strong cursed spirit that specialized in using flowers and plants to fight, so their domain expansion could have been both unique and powerful. What's particularly fascinating is that Gege Akutami has described how he imagines it would have worked, and this description was later borrowed by the mobile game Jujutsu Kaisen: Phantom Parade, which has Hanami as an enemy character that can use Domain Expansion. Its name is Shining Sea of Growing Branches, and it allows them to summon a beautiful field of flowers where their sunbeam will always hit their opponents. Still, Phantom parade is 100% non-canon supplemental material, so there is no certainty that Hanami's Domain Expansion would have worked like this in the manga.
3 Ryu Ishigori
A strong incarnate sorcerer with destructive powers
- First appearance: Chapter 173 (Manga)
Ryu Ishigori is a powerful sorcerer from 400 years in the past who was incarnated by Kenjaku to make him participate in the Culling Game. In the midst of a group battle against both Yuta Okkotsu and Takako Uro, he called out his domain expansion alongside them, but the simultaneously unstable barriers canceled each other out.
Later in the Culling Game, Ryu was killed by Sukuna before he could truly display his domain expansion, leaving fans to wonder what it had actually looked like and how it would have enhanced his innately cursed techniques, Cursed Energy Dispatch and Granite Blast.
Ryu was all about strong raw power, as he could shoot beams of concentrated cursed energy from his cannon-shaped pompadour, though his main weakness is that these beams were relatively easy to dodge. So his unrevealed Domain Expansion had the potential to be the most useful tool in his arsenal, especially if it allowed him to automatically hit anyone caught in it with multiple hits of his devastating Granite Blast.
2 Takako Uro
A member of the Fujiwara clan with a mind-numbingly cursed technique
- First appearance: Chapter 173 (Manga)
Takako Uro was yet another incarnate sorcerer participating in the Culling Games, and her domain expansion was also shattered when she tried to use it at the same time as Yuta and Ryu. This is rather unfortunate, as Takako had some fascinating credentials, being part of the Sun, Moon and Stars Squad of the mysterious Fujiwara clan.

Jujutsu Kaisen: 6 Reasons It Should Get a Sequel or Spinoff
Here are some reasons why the Jujutsu Kaisen series deserves a spin off or sequel.
On top of that, Takako's innate cursed technique was among the most creative in the series. Simply known as Sky Manipulation, this allows her to “grab” parts of the atmosphere as if it were an object, which she can use to levitate, defend herself, and even attack opponents with a concussive attack called Thin Ice Breaker. Although Takako was not killed like Ryu Ishigori, she was never seen after her failed attempt to use Domain Expansion. Given how strange yet unique her cursed technique is, it's extremely likely that her domain expansion would have been just as crazy, not to mention it would have allowed her to use Thin Ice Breaker without ever missing.
1 Yuki Tsukumo
A domain expansion with the potential to be on par with Gojo and Yutas
- First appearance: Chapter 50 (Manga) Episode 20 (Anime)
This is arguably the most disappointing invisible domain expansion of all Jujutsu Kaisensince Yuki Tsukumo was one of four special class jujutsu wizards, but she never got to activate her ultimate technique before the series ended. She confirmed that she could use Domain Expansion before her fight against Kenjaku, but she was killed by the same villain before she could do so.
Considering that Gojo's Unlimited Void and Yuta's Authentic Mutual Love are two of the most practical and powerful domain expansions in the series, it can be assumed that Yuki's would have been part of this prestigious group as well. So, its omission from the manga was met with much disappointment by fans.
Yuki's innate cursed technique, Star Rageallowing her to add virtual mass to herself and to her personal shikigami, Garuda, to make all her physical attacks stronger. Additionally, her domain expansion would more likely have allowed her to add even more mass to herself, and perhaps even change the gravity of the trapped area, so that her opponent could not move. Most fans hope to witness Yuki's domain expansion one day, especially if Gege Akutami decides to make another story set in this world.
