According to a reputable insider, PlayStation 5 Pro can get their first hardware audit before the end of September. But this updated version will probably not bring any major transformations or hardware updates for the PS5 Pro.
PS5 Pro was launched in November 2024 as Playstation's flagship console, and told huge performance upgrades over the PS5 base thanks to upgraded GPU hardware and a new AI-based image-scale called Playstation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). Many PS5 Pro Enhanced Games have maintained these alleged performance gains, and the hardware itself has received complaints apart from its cost and exclusion of a disc operation as standard. However, as the tradition of each Playstation console, Sony seems to have gone under the PS5 Pro's Hood for an upcoming model audit.
New PS5 Pro Model Revision Launch in Europe on September 30
Following the latest audit PS5 model that went on sale in Europe last week, Sony is alleged to do the same for the PS5 Pro. A new DealaBs report that is imposed by reliable Insider Billbil-Kun claims that according to certification documents submitted in Japan earlier this year, Sony will release a new PS5 Pro model called CFI-7121. This Revised PS5 Pro model will be launched in Europe on Tuesday, September 30And at least on the outside, the console is said to look and feel identical to the current version. Although unlikely in the first place, a “narrow” audit can therefore be excluded for the PS5 Pro.
Inside the bodyshell, Billbil-Kun speculates that Sony may have adjusted the PS5 PRO's hardware to enable better energy efficiency for the model audit. If this is the case, the new PS5 Pro model is likely to eject less heat and as a result, also runs quieter. It is quite important that the insider has made it clear that the PS5 Pro audit will retain 2TB SSD that was delivered with the original model. Given the above -mentioned PS5 model audit downgraded the console's storage from 1 TB to 825 GB without price reduction, it is a relief to see that Sony does not repeat this tactic with PS5 Pro. Speaking of price, no changes are expected on this front for the new PS5 Pro model either, but it continues to retail for € 799.99.
It remains to be seen if this new PS5 Pro model will come to the United States and what Sony has just changed in it, but if previous hardware audits for Vanilla PS5 are something to join, optimizations in the size of the heat sink are likely. These audits are ultimately focused on increasing the profit margins per sold console unit, so Sony will try to reduce materials such as copper and plastic where possible within the PS5 Pro while maintaining performance parity with the current model.
