Invincible VS makes Angstrom Levy's Roster Absence stick out like a sore thumb

Spoilers for Amazon's Invincible Show and the recently released Invincible VS Fighting Game Ahead

Before Invincible VSs release, developer Quarter Up and publisher Skybound Games confirmed that 18 heroes and villains would make up the roster. Among other things, one of the most notable characters missing is Angstrom Levy Invincible VSs list. It was already a hard pill to swallow that his dimension jumping powers wouldn't be present in the game, but Invincible VS's story mode actually makes it even worse.

It's been a hot minute since then Invincible fans have even seen Angstrom Levy. The time between Invincibles latest season 4 finale and Invincible VSthe release is no accident, but in both there was neither hair nor skin of Angstrom Levy. Currently stuck in his contract with the technicians (on the show), he is unable to pursue his all-consuming revenge against Mark – nobody hates like Angstrom Levy hates. But that pure, visceral hatred is missing in Invincible VS despite every indication that he should be there.

Invincible VS's story mode basically hinges on Angstrom Levy's in-universe identity

IN Invincible VSIn the story mode, players will find that the beloved titular hero, several Guardians and other heroes, as well as some Viltrumites, have all been captured by unknown attackers. They are trapped in some kind of dome that forces them to hallucinate nearby enemies, with the twist being that everyone has been captured by the techs. The techs harvest energy from the character's fights, and right off the clip that screams Angstrom Levy. His presence in the show, including the fact that he's still alive, is down to the techniques, and no in-universe changes (at least explained by this story mode) suggest why Angstrom Levy isn't involved.

As Invincible VS's Story Mode ends, an abrupt cliff-hanger that shows the earth being mined by the techies, it seems that this can all be attributed to some plan by Angstrom Levy. At the very least, while it might just be the techs, it's hard to imagine him not being involved. His absence was already bad, but the story mode makes it even more sickening.

The only good possibility to get out of this is Invincible VSs upcoming DLC characters. Reputable leaker MultiverSusie claims that Angstrom Levy, among others, is coming at some point in the future. Beyond Levy, Immortal and Universa have been confirmed by Quarter Up, with The Mauler Twins, Agent Spider, Damien Darkblood, Oliver, Dinosaurus and Volcanikka. It remains to be seen, but at least they would bring him into the fold.

Even further, hopefully the DLC characters will come with new story chapters or something like that. The end of the story mode is incredibly abrupt, but it's easy to see how all of the aforementioned characters could be drawn into the story. As players fight their way through everything, they can eventually end up on Angstrom Levy, defeat him, but also face Dinosaurus and Volcanikka due to the damage from these mines. Whatever happens, Invincible VSThe end of Story Mode just doesn't match Angström's absence.
