The director of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 has already completed 40 full playthroughs

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 game director Naoki Hamaguchi said he has already “completed over 40 full plays” of the upcoming title. But Hamaguchi's play-through of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 was likely done to look for any issues and catch any bugs that appear before the game is released.

Although details of the final of Final Fantasy 7 Remake saga remains elusive, Hamaguchi previously revealed that the game will still use a modified version of Unreal Engine 4 to facilitate development. Even if Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3s official name has already been decided by Square Enix, the company has kept it a secret. Despite the long wait for official news, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 has already undergone rigorous testing by one of its lead developers. In an interview with NintendoLife, Hamaguchi said that he has already played through Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 over 40 times from start to finish. Hamaguchi also stated that the development of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is following the schedule, but asked fans to wait a little longer for more information about the project. Although Hamaguchi didn't say exactly what the purpose of his playthrough was, each session was likely intended to comb through Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 and catch any outstanding bugs or issues before release. The latest status report from Hamaguchi was consistent with his previous statements made in early 2026. Hamaguchi previously stated that while Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 will be a multi-platform release, the game will be optimized for each supported platform to ensure players have a smooth experience at all times. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3s game design assets will be made with high-end gaming PCs in mind first before adapting them for consoles.

Hamaguchi also discussed the upcoming ports of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S, releasing on June 3. Hamaguchi stated that the short waiting time between the arrivals of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Switch 2 and Xbox was part of a steady release cadence to keep fans engaged while waiting for FF7 Remake Part 3. Then Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and FF7 Rebirth where ending up, Hamaguchi stated that Square Enix didn't feel the need to have a long wait between launches. Hamaguchi said, “We want to take advantage of this cadence and this moment to connect the experiences without any gaps, from Remake to Rebirth to finally the third part which is beyond them.”
