How to defeat Grimson Balta
Ever since you came to Baltaön i Ys X: The NordicsGrimson Balta will be a big part of the story while being the strongest mana wielder. He will help you quite a bit with the trial of the Shield Brethren and then the raid on the Grugal fortress, but his actions towards you will quickly change at the end of the fortress battle.

After all the fights you've been through in Ys X: Nordics, Grimson Balta will seem like a bit of a lighter since he only has 123,680 HP while not having a durability bar. This is more of a mini-boss in the game, though his consistent attacks and difficult moves won't make you feel that way. Here's what you can expect:

Slash Attacks |
These are the most common attacks performed by Grimson Balta where he first swings an axe, then two of them twice and then rushes towards the active character before creating an X on the last attack. These attacks are much slower at first, but they get faster with one red aura instead of green in the third phase when his HP is low enough. |

Spin Attack |
After a short period of charging where you see mist around Grimson, he spins his ax around his body, and the effect of the spin lasts for a few seconds. This can be a decent source of retribution meter, but you have to time the parry perfectly. |

Red attack |
When Grimson Balta gets to low HP, you'll see him start to jump into the air and charge his red attack. This is pretty easy to parry, and you can handle one a lot of damage when you parry perfectly the first time. |

Tornado attack |
In the final phase, Grimson can transform into a pink tornado and move quickly on the battlefield. This attack is hard to dodge, and it is it is recommended to time your parry on it instead. |
How to defeat Grimson Balta
One of the most important things you need to remember about the Grimson Balta fight is that his attacks become more lethal as the fight progresses. In the beginning, all of his attacks are quite slow and easy to avoid with a little movement from himmaking it hardly a challenge to deal damage while avoiding everything yourself.
However, when you reach the third phase with Grimson at about 25 percent HP left, not only do his attacks become fast, but he also starts to move around the battlefield a lot more. For this fight, you should avoid skills that have a long charge time because you might use it just to make the boss move.
