EA Sports FCthe new brand for the long-timers FIFA soccer simulation franchise, has long been a mainstay for publisher Electronic Arts, but not without its bumps—EA Sports FC Tactical has shut down forever today May 7th. At the time of writing, it is not possible to buy anything EA Sports FC Tactical, and the game has completely stopped working today.
While the timing is probably coincidental, it's worth noting that this isn't the only development for EA Sports FC in early May 2026. On May 5, PS Plus free games for May 2026 became available: EA Sports FC26, Wuchang Fallen Feathersand Nine suns. The latest entry in the franchise is thus the headliner for PS Plus, while a spin-off entry is dropped just a few days later.

Originally soft released in May 2024, EA Sports FC Tactical was only playable in select East and Southeast Asian regions: Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. Many were hoping to see a worldwide release, but that was shot down earlier this year. As previously announced, EA Sports FC Tactical has been shut down and is now permanently offline starting today, May 7, 2026. The turn-based mobile game was developed by KLab and EA, and this shutdown is due to EA shutting down underperforming mobile games in recent weeks.

Where EA Sports FC Tactical derived from most EA Sports games is gameplay; As the name suggests, it is a turn-based simulation game where players have to make strategic decisions on the pitch, ranging from defending, attacking, performing certain skills and so on. At least EA has announced pretty much all of these shutdowns months in advance, giving fans plenty of time to spend their final days with the title. Even Anthem's suspension was heavily telegraphed by the company, and fans knew it Plants vs. Zombies HD, Madden NFL 23, NHL 22and NHL 23 all shut down between June and the end of August 2026. That's still months away, and it's not a courtesy that always gets extended. For example, Warner Bros. added recently down Cars 3: Driven to Win with absolutely no warning to the players.

It's always sad to see a game shut down, and it doesn't matter if it's a big AAA game from EA or other publishers, a mobile spin-off game, or something completely out of left field.
