To help with the downtime, Bungie has also released the annual Dawning event in the Destiny 2. With that underway and the holidays fast approaching, Bungie decided to set fans' expectations for the new year.

In the last blog post of 2024, Bungie laid out plans for what fans can expect for the rest of this year and early January. During a previous one Destiny 2 Bungie announced that it would not be hosting an Act 3 live stream due to the holidays. This week's blog post provided some details, including important dates like Iron Banner's final return on January 14th, a new Dungeon going live on February 7th, as well as Episode Revenant Act 3 launching on January 7th on reset.

For many fans, the big news came further down the line when Bungie revealed some details about a new update coming on January 14th. While specific weapon archetypes and weapon perks are being tweaked, Bungie is also highlighting 3 specific exotics that are also being changed. The Stoicism exotic class item fixes a bug for Spirit of Alpha Lupi, and the Malfeasance hand cannon gets a boost since it previously lacked inherent effects from the Precision Hand Cannon perk. However, the exotic pulse rifle Graviton Lance is getting nerfed as Bungie indicated that it dominates lobbies for lower and medium skills. To counter this, the Graviton Lance has its RPM reduced back to 300, as it was before the Act 2 update.


It is likely that this will be the first major update Destiny 2 looking after the holiday break, with the latest patch finally addressing an annoying bug. Recently, players discovered a frustrating bug related to Tomb of Elders tonics, which increased the number of instances of incorrect weapons. Although bugs and issues have been common during Episode Revenant, Destiny 2 got a new update which finally solved the problem.
