Released in 2023 after being in early access for three years, Baldur's Gate 3 quickly became a big hit. Not only did it BG3 sell over 10 million copies and win many awards, but it's often cited as the best RPG of 2023, and it's gotten even wilder with mods.
Now, a Baldur's Gate 3 modder named Lotrich has shared an interesting project: their recreation of one of the opening areas Baldur's Gate 2Wauken's Boardwalk. Baldur's Gate 2 begins in a dungeon, but as soon as the player escapes from the base of the villain Irenicus, the world opens up in the city of Athkatla, with Wauken's boardwalk. Unfortunately, players still can't play in this old-school area, as Lotrich hasn't released the mod yet, and the area doesn't appear to have any actual missions. Overall, this recreation of Wauken's Promenade seems more like a showcase of the modder's ability than anything else. However, BG2 has already been recreated in other games such as Neverwinter Nights 2 before, so it is possible that someone will manage to do the same for Baldur's Gate 3 now that the official modding tools have been released.
Another interesting one BG3 Project was a mod that added real-time battles Baldur's Gate 3. Already released as a work in progress, the mod ditches the classic turn-based combat and completely reworks the experience of fighting in BG3but it still lacks party control AI.
right now, Baldur's Gate 3 has many excellent mods, which can either be used to change aspects of the game or introduce new content such as more races and subclasses. Hopefully the community will continue to post interesting mods in the future, maybe even come up with a new unofficial campaign for the popular RPG.
