How to start Banner of Banners in Gothic 1 Remake
The Banner of Banners begins in Chapter 4 after completing A Shaman Shunned. Once you talk to Ur-Shak at the castle ruins, he explains that you need an Ulu-Mulu to enter the orc enclave, which starts the quest.
Ulu-Mulu is a holy standard, and Ur-Shak tells him that one of his friends can handle it. That friend, Tarrok, is being held prisoner in the free mine, but you shouldn't go there right away. First, you must collect four creature parts, which Tarrok will use to make Ulu-Mulu.
All Ulu-Mulu ingredient locations
To make Ulu-Mulu, you need four ingredients: a Fire Killer's Tongue, a Large Shadow Beast Horn, Swamp Shark's Fangs, and Wizard Fangs. The map above shows where the creatures that provide these materials are, although they can be found elsewhere, and the sections that follow provide more information on how to obtain each one.

The Great Shadowbeast horn is the hardest ingredient to collect. If you struggle with that fight, consider getting a Summon Golem scroll from Xardas.
Where to find a Fire Deer Ladunga
Large fire lizards can be found around orc territory, and you can loot the fire lizard's tongue needed for Ulu-Mulu after defeating one. While you can try equipping gear that maximizes your fire resistance before fighting these enemies, it's not strictly necessary. Simply walk up to the large fire lizard, step back to avoid its fire, then move in for melee when its breath attack wears off.
Where to find the large shadow beast horn
A Great Shadowbeast can be found by the waterfall just west of the old mine. This is the hardest Ulu-Mulu ingredient to collect, although there is a way to make it significantly easier: buy a Summon Golem scroll from Xardas and use the companion to tank the large shadow beast while attacking.
The Summon Golem scroll has an initial mana cost of 15. If you haven't increased your mana to that level, eat an herb that restores mana over time, like a Spellbane Nettle, right before you cast the spell.
If you're trying to fight the large shadow beast unaided, you'll need to strike a good balance between offense and defense. Its horn attack is particularly deadly, as it comes out very quickly, although the beast usually doesn't use that attack twice in a row. Try to parry its swipes and horn attacks, then punish with a full combo. You can also take advantage of the beast's counter attack by backing up enough to avoid being hit and attacking its head while it's out of control.
Where do you find the wizards?
The Troll Bites can be obtained from a Troll that appears in Troll Canyon, the area you visited earlier when you collected Focus in Troll Canyon. Although this enemy is much lighter than the large shadow beast, it can hit hard, and even blocked attacks can knock you down and leave you open to taking a lot of damage. You should therefore focus on parrying the troll's attacks and following the defensive maneuvers with full combos.
Where to find Swampshark's molars
Swampshark Mother can be found swimming in the water in the southeast corner of the swamp, southeast of Swamp Camp. This is one of the easiest ingredients to collect, as you have plenty of time to react to the creature's slow attacks, although you may need to kill some regular Swampsharks in the area while you search for the mother.
Where to find Tarrok in Free Mine
After collecting all four Ulu-Mulu ingredients, go to the Free Mine at the back of the New Camp. To reach it, pass the Residential Cave and follow the path up and to the left, heading left just before the waterfall. Along the way you'll encounter Wolf, who can start The Minecrawler Armor side quest, as well as Gorn, who can start the Recovering the Free Mine side quest.
How to get through the free mine
Once inside the Free Mine, go all the way down to the bottom to encounter the Jackal and some guards. You have to fight these human enemies before you can continue, and you will find a metal gate past them. Enter the small room on the left and turn the wheel to open the gate, then continue along the main path.
Eventually you'll come to an open area with more guards. Defeat them and then continue along the path that leads up and to the right. Keep following the path until you reach the end and find a ladder that can be used to go down.
Climb all the way to the bottom, enter the chamber with the large forge and deal with the guards inside. Then follow the wooden path near the entrance up and to the left, and continue until you reach a minesweeper standing in a small pool of water.
How to reach Tarrok's cell
When you get to the water, climb up the rock ledges to the left and follow the path into a room with more minecrawlers. There are two cells in that room, and Tarrok is being held in the one on the right. Open the cell, talk to the orc and hand over the four ingredients.
How to get Ulu-Mulu
You now have to wait for Tarrok to do Ulu-Mulu, although it won't take long. When he's done, he'll challenge you to a fight, and you'll have to defeat Tarrok and loot the Ulu-Mulu from his body. This fight is much easier than the ones you completed to get the Ulu-Mulu ingredients, and The Banner of Banners is marked as complete once you've collected the standard.
