Arc Raiders players aren't sure if they want the China exclusive cosmetics

Arc Raiders has some great cosmetics. Unlike most games set in the post-apocalypse, it allows you to dress your Raider in some great suits, while still looking like they were put together from scraps. While the community is more or less happy with the clothing the developers at Embark have put out, it seems that players in China are getting more than the rest of us.

Many players on various forums have noticed that China has received cosmetics that are not available anywhere else. These aren't just experiments either, players have been using them, and they look pretty cool, if I do say so myself. While much of society wonders why China gets special treatment, the whole story is a bit more complicated.

China's strict approval system may be the reason for these exclusive cosmetics

For example, a Reddit post by j1zzy_ae showed off some of the cosmetics available to Chinese players. A Full River Red shell for the anvil, with some cool text on the barrel, a lemon battery for the Renegade, which connects literal lemons to the sweaters, and Arc Trail's Arpaggio, which has the game colors on the gun. There's also a retro spacesuit with Mickey Mouse ears.

Many of the comments agreed that the cosmetics look pretty cool and wished they were available globally, but there were some who understood why this exclusivity is in place. As you may already know, China has a strict approval policy for foreign games launched in the country, and most of them have to go through an intermediary like Tencent.

That's where cosmetics come in. In this particular case, it is likely that the collaboration with Tencent resulted in an additional layer of microtransactions, which is not the case in other regions. So even though cosmetics look good, players in China have to pay extra for them.

With that in mind, other players have commented that they don't mind sticking with the current rollout of skins. If getting these extra cosmetics requires an extra layer of monetization, it's fine to skip them altogether.
