All 7 Homunculi ranked by power

Full metal alchemist is a world constructed on the law of equivalent exchange, and there is nothing that would test the underlying principle more than the homunculi. These artificial humans are the physical embodiment of the Seven Sins of the Father, and they are the main antagonists who pull the strings of Amestris from the shadows. Their special, supernatural abilities, in conflict with the Elric brothers, make for some of the most physically and emotionally demanding scenes in the entire series.

Although almost all members of this supposedly “evil” family are endowed with terrible regenerative powers and otherworldly powers, they are not equal in their power. Some of them are based on brute force and sheer endurance, while others use reality-bending shadows or absolute mastery of human combat ability. Their ranking shows the intricate order of the creation of Father, with the god-like being who sought to swallow even the sun itself and cross the borders of humanity forever.

What are Homunculi?

As a by-product of the spirit in a Philosopher's Stone, Homunculi are unnatural creatures made by the one called Father. All are literal fragments of his soul, cast to cleanse him of human sins such as greed or lust. Powered by thousands of human souls, they can regenerate from almost any wound as long as their core – the Stone – has energy, making them virtually immortal. They are the ultimate alchemical taboo given by flesh and blood.

Lust

Lust from Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood

Called the Ultimate Spear, Lust is surprisingly limited despite her deadly accuracy. The most deadly yet predictable weapon she has is her claws, which extend to pierce anything. She's an expert in shadows and intrigue, but she doesn't have the defensive abilities of her older, stronger siblings or the sheer size that makes them so deadly.

The use of stabs that are close to medium high exposes her to area of effect attacks. Roy Mustang proved that while she can regenerate, she has some definite limits when confronted with continuous fire. She has no other combat deception, so she is the most conventional threat, with great lethality but the least overall versatility of the Seven Sins.

Gluttony

Gluttony appears to be a simple-minded beast, but his “Fake Gate of Truth” makes him a terrifying extremist. In his standard form, he's a ruthless tracker with an impressive bite, but his real danger comes when his belly opens. This void can devour anything it comes across and eliminate matter.

But his weakness is his stupidity. He is easy to control and sometimes uses his siblings to guide him in his hunger. His offensive ceiling is simply astronomical, but he is slow and predictable, and thus easily defeated by experienced fighters. He is the literal definition of a glass cannon.

6

Envy

Envy is the master of disguise and psychological warfare, using shapeshifting to sneak in and win fights from within. They can also transform into a huge, multi-legged creature in battle, made up of the spirits in their stone. This true form provides immense physical strength and a terrifying size superiority, giving them the ability to interrupt masses but lose momentum and become an easier target. This was shown with their fight against Roy, where he even taunts Envy, saying that it is now easier for him to target them.

This raw strength doesn't mean much; Envy's actual self is a tiny, helpless parasite. They are also notorious for emotional outbursts and arrogance that cause tactical mistakes. When stripped of their giant form, they are left without any real defensive means. They are strong because of tricks and not the pure fighting ability.

5

Laziness

Fullmetal Alchemist Homunculus Sloth

Sloth is the strongest physically and the most durable of the children, designed to do the hard work of digging the Nationwide Transmutation Circle. He seems slow and dim, but is actually the fastest of the homunculus when he wants to be, rather ironic for being a sloth. His super speed turns his massive body into an invincible, bone-crushing battering ram.

The irony is that he is too lazy to push himself forward, and he has a tendency to miss the mark entirely. Having no sense of tactics, no sophisticated skills, he can be exhausted by teamwork and off-road tricks. He's a behemoth of pure, raw stats, but he's not a tactical fighter.

4

Greed

The only sin still left with a real soul. Greed has the ultimate shield, or rather the power to reorganize the carbon in his body and form a diamond hard skin. This makes him nearly invulnerable to physical damage and allows him to transform his own body parts into blades that are unbreakable. He later joins Ling Yao to learn martial arts.

His ability to develop a strategy and his impeccable defense make him a nightmare in duels. However, there is a flaw in his shield: It takes a moment of concentration to work, and it can be compromised by alchemy that alters the carbon's structure. Although extremely difficult to kill, he is not as impressive as the other Sins.

3

Anger

King Bradley stands out in that he is a human-built Homunculus that cannot regenerate, but he is perhaps the most dangerous up close. His “Ultimate Eye” allows him to predict every movement and trajectory of the ball. This insight, combined with inhuman speed and skill with a sword, allows him to tear apart entire armies.

He is the only sin that can truly put elite alchemists to the test through sheer talent. Although he is not immortal, his offense is so over the top that he is almost never hurt by his opponents. What only makes him weaker than Pride in the hierarchy is that his mortality is a limited resource; there comes a point when his old body can't match.

2

Pride

Pride is father's first creation, and the strongest of his children, inhabiting a little boy's body to hide his appearance. He commands a huge, many-eyed shadow that can spread across cities and swallow anything it comes in contact with. These shadows cannot be destroyed, and they can devour other creatures to become like them.

His range and versatility is second to none, as he can strike from any darkness. His only real weakness is complete light or complete darkness, which temporarily breaks his bond to his shadows. Despite this, his power to devour siblings is proof that he is the ultimate descendant of father.

1

Father

Father is the source of all alchemy in Amestris and the place of origin of all other Homunculi. He was initially just a “dwarf in the flask”, but later took a human form and tried to rise above existence. His power is practically inexhaustible, and he can easily create matter and manipulate energy.

At his best, he literally opened the gate of truth with his bare hands and temporarily absorbed God, and he had power over the stuff of reality and could create suns with the palm of his hand. He is not a character, but a kind of nature. Although he was later overpowered, it was only through the combined effort of an entire nation that he was pushed back and finally defeated.
