Wuchang: Fallen Feathers tells the story of pirate Bai Wuchang, who battles a supernatural affliction known as The Feathering as she attempts to revive her younger sister through a special artifact hidden in her homeland of Shu. Influence of Chinese mythology on Wuchang: Fallen Feathers through its mythic elements, the inclusion of folklore and historical setting, makes it a memorable Soulslike for many fans.
The purchase of IP follows the unexpected resolution of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers' development team, which was first reported near mid-April. The abolition of the development team at Leenzee, for which Wuchang: Fallen Feathers was its first and only major game, followed the dismissal of studio director Xia Siyuan, who was reportedly fired shortly before the Lunar New Year on February 17. Details are still scarce as to why the studio completely disbanded, but some reports suggest that it failed to outsource key development team tasks in the wake of the former director's departure, and that the biggest disregard for such work was to outsource such alleged work.

The acquisition announcement may also raise some hope about it Wuchang: Fallen Feathers may have additional content or even a sequel in their plans. The announcement from Digital Bros noted that the game had sold more than 1 million copies by the end of March, resulting in more than the equivalent of $35 million in total net revenue. The company also mentioned the IP's “long-term potential” and addressed its “future development and related investments,” meaning players may have something to look forward to beyond the previous post-launch updates to fix Wuchang: Fallen Feathers' early performance issues. Fans shouldn't expect anything in the short term, however, as the statement goes on to say that Digital Bros expects “no significant impact” on its outlook for the current financial year.
