Sand: Raiders of Sophie is a PvPvE extraction game similar to Sea of Thieves. But instead of pirate ships, players drive massive machines called Tramplers across a hostile desert. Throughout your exploration, you'll come across a variety of loot ranging from weapons, armor, ammo, parts for your mech, and various crafting materials.
Two of these materials are thread and fabric scraps, which are needed to unlock various Trampler pieces in the Dmytro Melnyk skill tree. Here you will find these materials so you can start improving your mech and become the hunter instead of the prey.
Where to find the thread
Similar to other crafting and upgrade materials in Sand: Raiders of Sophie, you can only find thread in a specific type of container. At the time of writing, the thread is in either a food box, rare food box, or very rare food box. All of which have a very high chance of having around 15-30 thread when raided.
There is no other way to get thread right now, so don't expect to be able to buy it or find it in other lootable containers like medicine cabinets or safes. The crates you're looking for will be clearly marked with a white cow icon painted on top, so keep an eye out for that when looting a shipwreck or town.
Speaking of which, the best places to find food boxes are forts, named towns, or in the hold of ships. Too fast you have to either bring a timed explosive or use a cannon on your Trampler to blast apart the big red doors that are locked. Once inside, you can search the courtyard and climb the walls. Both locations often have a lot of loot, and I've stumbled upon quite a few rare and very affordable food boxes at these locations.
The named cities are a bit more hit or miss when it comes to consistently finding food boxes. This largely depends on the size of these points of interest and how spread out many of the lootable containers are. You can definitely find food crates here, just be aware that these places are heavily guarded by both Ironclads and the zombie-like enemies that roam the streets.
Finally, you want to look out for any ship that has a big red door on the deck. Similar to fort doors, these can be inflated and usually contain around 5–6 lootable boxes. Crates aren't guaranteed, but these areas are so quick to raid that it's almost always worth a quick stop to check!

Sand: Raiders Of Sophie: Complete Extraction Guide
Here's everything you need to know about successfully mining in Sand: Raiders of Sophie.
Where to find fabric scraps
Unsurprisingly, fabric scraps follow the same rule as thread and currently only appear in a specific type of box. These are Crate of Shells, Rare Crate of Shells and Very Rare Crate of Shells. All of these have a chance to spawn cloth scraps, but the very rare box of shells has a better chance of spawning actual cloth instead of cloth scraps.
To find these crates, you'll want to check the usual looting spots like forts, towns, and shipwrecks. Where things differ from Thread is that the normal shipwrecks are usually a good source of Threadas they almost always seem to contain either a Crate of Shells or a Weapon Crate (sometimes both!) for you to loot.
These are usually only guarded by about two enemies, and you can easily hit multiple shipwrecks in the space of a few minutes. If you need fabric scraps for your upgrade paths, I highly recommend stopping all the different ships and giving them a quick run through. You can easily stock up on fabric scraps without even setting foot in some of the more dangerous, higher traffic areas.
