Detective Alderman of the Vermont State Police i Life Is Strange: Double Exposure is a bloodhound when it comes to investigating Safi's murder. The trail has somehow made him question Moses and Max's involvement, and he's suspicious.
After you manage to retrieve Safi's camera from Moses' office, Alderman pulls you aside and asks if you want to help him by giving him information on who took Safi's camera and their whereabouts. Should you agree to help him, essentially betraying Moses, or stand your ground and refuse his request? We'll help you make your decision here by providing all the possible consequences that could come from both options.
What happens if you agree to help the Alderman?
If you agree to help, the Alderman gives you his business card and thanks you for your help. This is one of the requirements for the Be Great, Do Crime Achievement or Trophy. So if you want to complete the game 100 percent, you must agree to help the man.
However, Moses hears you agree to help him. Later, when you and Moses are going to look at Safi's photos, the conversation between Max and Moses is strained.
You can try to tell Moses that either the Alderman gave you no choice or you will never help him, but it doesn't seem to matter.
When you find the picture of Max shooting Safi, Moses says that you sold him out to the Alderman to cover for yourself, and he storms out.
Fortunately, it is the extent of the negative consequences for this election. After Moses learns about your powers, and what happens to Alderman at the beginning of Chapter 3, he seems to forgive Max.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure – Should you tell Safi about the restraining order or help Lucas?
Tell Safi harrowing information and risk Luca's wrath? Or spare both their feelings? It is a difficult choice.
What happens if you refuse to help the Alderman?
If you refuse to help the Alderman he says he hopes you don't actually know anything and withholding information can get you in trouble.
During the conversation later with Moses, after Max asks him if he's “okay okay” and he says no, you can ask him one of these two questions:
-
Can I do something?
-
Do you want to talk about it?
To the first he says: “You have already done a lot.” To the other, he opens up about how he feels andsays he appreciates you standing up to Alderman.
When he sees the picture of Max holding the gun, it doesn't matter what you say to Moses. No matter what you say, he will get upset and tell you to stay away from him, just as he would have if you agreed to help the Alderman.
Should you agree or refuse to help the Alderman?
Overall there aren't many story-based ramifications for this decision. Anyway, you and Moses will eventually become cool, and he'll forgive you for agreeing to help the Alderman.
The main difference between the two paths is helping the Alderman puts you closer to unlocking the Be Great, Do Crime Achievement or Trophy. So logically you should go that route.
That said, standing on Alderman and disappointing Moses doesn't feel good. So it's understandable if you go for Achievement or Trophy on your second run and refuse Alderman on your first run.
