Recent changes to the real Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool adopted by the Trump administration have made it resemble its counterpart in Fallout 3. Although the real version creates a lot of controversy and is undoubtedly a bit of an eyesore, fans of Fallout 3 have raved about the similarity.
The Fall-out games have been set around various locations in the United States, but Fallout 3 in particular lies in the Capital Wasteland, which includes Washington DC and some surrounding areas. Players exploring the wasteland can discover remnants of real-life US buildings and monuments, including the reflecting pool in question.

New official Fallout release confirmed for 2027
Fallout fans officially have a new release to look forward to in 2027.
Fallout 3 fans celebrate Green Reflexing Pool
As the name suggests, the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool normally has a mirror-like reflectivity. Recently, however, the reflecting pool has taken on a green hue, apparently due to an overgrowth of algae. This has created a strong resemblance between the real reflecting pool and the one that can be found in the post-apocalyptic wasteland Fallout 3. Gamers have joked about the resemblance, with some joking that the Trump administration paid tribute Fall-out series, while others teased that they were happy that the pool hadn't changed at all in 200 years.

The water's new green look began after a multimillion-dollar rehabilitation project enacted by the Trump administration installed a new liner in the pool and painted the bottom blue. Some professionals have said that this type of green algae growth is quite common, especially at this time of year, and that the new color can cause the water to absorb more heat from the sun, which can fuel algae. Currently, the government is taking steps to try to combat the algae and restore the water to its original appearance. At least it has been said that the algae do not make the water poisonous, while the same cannot be said of the irradiated wasteland of Fallout 3.
Then Fall-out universe is largely based on a combination of real history and 1950s science fiction, it has some similarities to the modern world. The areas explored in Fallout 3 and 4 are probably the most familiar to fans, as they have been two of the biggest hits the series has seen over the years. However, Fall-out has also explored California, parts of Oregon, Nevada, Utah and Arizona. Some iconic landmarks familiar to visitors and residents of these areas have appeared in the games, as well Fall-out Prime TV series, which went to the New Vegas area in the last season.
At this time, Bethesda has not given any significant hints about where next Fall-out the game can take players. When it is finally released, Fallout 5 could introduce entirely new areas, or maybe even take players from outside the US, like Fallout London courage did. In the meantime, though, a couple of remasters or remakes too Fallout 3 and New Vegas is said to be in the works, so players who haven't had the opportunity to see Washington DC in its post-apocalyptic state will likely get another chance in the future.
