The Legend of Zelda has been underway for the past decade, beginning with the debut of The tears of the kingdom through the release of the second LEGO Ocarina of Time set earlier this year. For a franchise that likes to take its time between releases, or at least sooner, it feels like months can't go by without some new Zelda stuff coming out. 2026 has been no different, with plenty of reasons for Zelda fans to be excited. But without a doubt the biggest The Legend of Zelda This year's release is still on the way.
Legend of Zelda is getting the remake treatment on Switch 2
Undoubtedly one of the biggest releases of the year The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake. Rumored for a few months now, the remake was officially revealed during the Nintendo Direct in June with a very minimalistic trailer. We didn't get to see any gameplay, UI elements, or really get a real sense of the art style beyond a brief look at baby Link in his Kokiri Forest home. There's probably more to show from the game, and fans shouldn't have to wait too long, because The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake aiming for a 2026 release date.
While many 2026 games are avoided Grand Theft Auto 6and crowded the month of September in the process, The Legend of Zelda: OoT Remake feels like the kind of game that could stake its own claim in November. Of course, there's always the possibility that the game will be delayed – the release window without any game is confusing – but right now it should count among the most anticipated games still to release in 2026.
Besides The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time RemakeNintendo also has at least one other Zelda release for later this year. This one might not have the whizz-bang appeal of a remake of one of the greatest video games of all time, but there are plenty of fans who will be lining up to pick up this second release.

Mineru's Construct is getting the Nintendo Amiibo treatment
In September, Nintendo releases the Minerus Construct Amiibo, which The tears of the kingdom fans will know one of the best Zonai creations in that game. Nintendo was smart to save the Construct for later in the game – depending on how you played – but it was a real highlight when you unlocked it. But because of how cool and surprising Mineru's Construct is, it makes sense why Nintendo didn't want to release Amiibo around the time Zelda: Tears of the Kingdoms launch. Now that a lot of time has passed, Amiibo can get its time to shine.
Zelda fans got to spend more time with Mineru and learn a bit of her background as part of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonmentthe Dynasty Warriors-style hack-and-slash spin-off that was released last year. And if they pick up the Minerus Construct Amiibo, they'll unlock special items Breath of the Wild, The tears of the kingdomor Age of imprisonment.
While a new release for The Legend of Zelda used to be a once-in-a-generation event, Nintendo has locked into a release cadence that keeps the franchise regularly on fans' minds, similar to Pokemon. We get side stories, spin-offs, remakes and branded items, while the main team works on the follow-up The tears of the kingdomwhich is said to be another departure for the franchise.

There have been some great moments of late, but 2026 could be one of the best years yet The Legend of Zelda in fresh memory, even if there is no master version. The Ocarina of Time The LEGO set is a more affordable offering with some really great minifigs, that the Minerus Construct Amiibo is the right kind of unique draw that Nintendo loves to do with its figures, and Ocarina of Time Remake is a fantastic ending to The Legend of Zelda40th anniversary year.
But it doesn't stop there. Next year will be released The Legend of Zelda live action film, which is long overdue. And there's at least one other LEGO Zelda set rumored to be in the works.
