The Game Awards 2024 nominees will be announced on November 18. Fans will therefore have almost a full month to vote for their favorites before the 2024 edition of The Game Awards takes place.

TGA 2024 will be the 11th iteration of the annual event hosted by Geoff Keighley. For the second year in a row, the awards ceremony will take place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The event is scheduled for December 12th, starting at 4:30 PM PT / 7:30 PM ET.

Keighley has now revealed that the TGA 2024 nominees will be announced on Monday 18 November. The full list of contenders for this year's awards will initially be detailed as part of a live stream scheduled to start at 9:00am PT / 12:00pm ET / 6:00pm CET. The nominees will then be listed on the TGA website shortly afterwards.

As was the case in the past, most The Game Awards winners will be decided by a mixed vote, with a specialized jury contributing 90% and public fan votes accounting for the remaining 10% of the results. In previous years, the referendum usually began immediately after the announcement of the nominees. This will likely also be the case in 2024. Most fans will be able to cast their votes via the TGA website, except for those from China, who will instead be asked to participate via BiliBili. Public voting ends on December 11 at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET.

In terms of potential GOTY candidates, there's a bit more uncertainty in 2024 compared to recent years. Baldur's Gate 3 and Fire Ring won the ultimate honor at the last two editions of the event, but they were also some of the biggest favorites to do so, highlighted by the fact that they were among the most nominated The Game Awards contenders in their respective years. This time, the likes of Astro Bot, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthand Metaphor: ReFantazio all appear to be more or less equally strong contenders, at least if critical acclaim and fan adoration are any indication. Other potential TGA 2024 GOTY nominees include Black Myth: Wukong, Balatroand Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

As is tradition, TGA 2024 will be streamed live via multiple platforms, including YouTube and Twitch. The Game Awards 2023 broke its own viewership record with over 118 million live streams, up 15% year-on-year, underscoring its status as one of the industry's biggest events of its kind.
