Following the grand finale of Tekken 8 World Tour 2024, series producer Katsuhiro Harada announced two new Tekken 8 updates for 2025. The winter update for Tekken 8 will include new photo mode and customization features, and a Spring 2025 update will bring major balance changes and new moves for all playable characters.

The news came a few months later Tekken 8 released its Fall 2024 DLC fighter, beloved franchise villain Heihachi Mishima. Although Heihachi was announced during Evo 2024, the leader of the Mishima clan would not arrive until early October in Tekken 8 Patch 1.08. Harada confirmed that the fourth DLC fighter for Tekken 8 will be showcased during The Game Awards 2024, which airs Thursday, December 12 at 7:30 PM Eastern.
