Valve has released the final issue of Team Fortress 2s long-running web series, with this also being the first update to the series in seven years. Fans of Team Fortress 2 are used to waiting a long time for Valve to update their game. Updates to TF2 can sometimes take anywhere between months and even years, especially in the 2020s. But one thing that fans were waiting for and were sure would never reach a conclusion was its long-running webcomic.
The Team Fortress 2 webcomics were first used to tie into various major updates, such as its Scream Fortress event, or to provide some lore. But in 2013, the comic started a long-form arc known as Team Fortress Comics. It featured an in-depth story that explored different aspects of each of the playable mercenaries, including the characters from the first Team fortress game. However, the series faced several delays when it was released. The series went on hiatus in 2017 right before the release of the final issue, and lead writer for the series, Erik Wolpaw, temporarily leaving Valve after issue 6 was released didn't help matters either.

The seventh and last part of Team Fortress 2s comic book, “The Days Have Worn Away”, was finally released on December 20, 2024. The seventh issue picks up from the sixth issue's cliffhanger ending to conclude several plot points set up seven years ago. These include the resolution of Scout's crush on Ms. Pauling, the administrator's past with the Mann family, and even the soldier's romance with Zhanna. Team Fortress Comics is ending after a seven-year hiatus
The most important thing that the seventh number does is to finish Team Fortress 2s lore and story, giving fans a mostly proper ending to the characters and saying goodbye to them. There's even a time jump showing what the iconic mercenaries are up to in the future, after they've settled down and gotten their happy endings. The final pages of the issue even briefly break the fourth wall to thank the reader for sticking with the comic as long as they did.
Many fans were incredibly surprised to see that the comic survived development hell and that the story finally came to an end after a seven-year hiatus. Some fans even said they were moved to tears by the dedication to Soldier's voice actor, Rick May, at the beginning of the series. Many Team Fortress 2 fans thanked the writers and Valve for providing the perfect ending, just in time for the holidays.
