Steam users looking for something free need look no further than its current offerings on the Free-to-Keep campaign, the latest of which is a 2017 sci-fi game called Sentience: The Android's Tale. Steam users just need to act fast to take advantage of the promotion.
From time to time, Steam makes a couple of paid games available completely free for a certain period of time – the Free-to-Keep campaign. In fact, Steam users can still download the game for dungeon management Legend of Keeper: Career of a Dungeon Manager free until April 23, 2026 as well. Players take on the role of an employee of the Dungeons Company in that game and manage and defend them against would-be heroes. It's a sweet, fantasy concept, but for someone more into Sci-Fi, it might not quite itch. Sentience: The Android's Tale is another story.
New Steam Game Is Like Diablo Meets ARC Raiders
The new game from a solid action RPG developer takes the best parts of Diablo and ARC Raiders to create something completely new with a PvPvE focus.
Download Sentience: The Android's Tale for free on Steam
Developed by Pilgrim Adventures and published by GrabTheGames, Sentience: The Android's Tale is a choice-based narrative game where players take on the role of the titular Android. Steam users have until April 23rd at 10:00am PT/1:00pm ET to download the game for freebut they should still keep expectations in check. Sentience is a premium title aside from this Free-to-Keep period, but it's not particularly expensive. It usually costs $5, making it a budget game on Steam on any regular day of the week. That said, it's free and $5 is $5. It doesn't hurt to check it out.
The story is influenced by player decisions, where players make choices as androids: to be a servant or to be their own device. At the same time, they can learn from the forgotten pioneers of the sci-fi planet Akritas, especially as players work to win their trust. Beyond the narrative influence, most Sentiences gameplay is classic point-and-click adventure, so players should expect a chill, albeit serious experience – the game explores themes of the very concept of intelligence and being, after all.
The end result is at least a dozen possible endings, where each main character can survive or perish based on the player's choices and actions. Total, Sentience sounds like a budget sci-fi version of the game offered by The Dark Pictures Anthologywhich is the most apt description or comparison one can make. It's not at the level of choice-based games that Dispatchbut those looking forward to a new choice-based game might like this (again, it's free!)

In the meantime, Steam users can keep an ear to the ground for more news on their Free-to-Keep campaign. More announcements are expected in the coming days/weeks, so if a sci-fi or fantasy game on Steam still doesn't quite scratch the surface for you, maybe something else will come along soon and do.
