Star Rail's time control mechanic explained

When Amphoreus was first revealed, there had been rumors about it Honkai: Star Rail would include timebending which is said to be a central gameplay mechanic in the chapter. This was exciting as it would be a first for Honkai: Star Rail and there was much speculation as to how it would perform during exploration and/or combat.

In recent times Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0 Special Program stream, the developers revealed that Trailblazer will have the ability to control time in certain areas of Amphoreus. The first snippets show how the unique mechanic works, which actually has an important role in the next arc's story.

The latest leaks have revealed the full kit of Honkai: Star Rail's first batch of Memoprites for version 3.0 as well as possible future summons.

Trailblazer's Time Control Ability is a big deal in Amphoreus

Amphoreus is a mysterious dystopian world that survived a millennia-long war between titans and mortals. When the Astral Express Crew arrives, they will meet a group of heroes known as the Chrysos Heirs, whose mission is to obtain the Titans Coreflames, so they can return the planet to its former glory. Amphoreus also has influences from Greek mythology, which is evident in the characters, locations, and even the gameplay.

As mentioned, one of the central game mechanics of the Honkai: Star Rail's Amphoreus bow is Trailblazer's ability to control time, also known as Oronyx's Prayer. Oronyx is known as the titan of time, ruling the past, present and future of Amphoreus, and also protecting memories. According to Honkai: Star RailTrailblazer's developers are able to use Titan's power through a phenomenon known as Oronyx's Miracle, which allows them to recreate illusions from the past and restore certain objects to their original state.

Gameplay clip from Honkai: Star Rails version 3.0 special program stream showed Trailblazer exploring a ruin in Castrum Kremnos and approaching a tome to activate Oronyx's Prayer, which is symbolized by an hourglass symbol in the bottom right of the screen. This gives them the ability to see visions from the past that can help them rebuild access routes to reach certain areas and in some cases timelines can converge, and the Trailblazer can see the past and present state of the map.

The rewind ability allows them to stop time at the right moment to create walkways, clear debris, and even stop Zagreus, a mischievous thief, from stealing a treasure chest from the overworld. This new game mechanic is quite similar Life is strange and Life is Strange: Double Exposures time-bending powers, where players can use these skills to solve puzzles.

Miracle of Oronyx: A phenomenon used by the followers of the Titan of Time to create illusions, alter reality, and restore objects to their former state.
Prayer of Oronyx: A rewind power that Trailblazer can use to return objects to their previous state. This can be used on memory-charged items, which show a ripple of energy indicating that Oronyx's Prayer can be used there.

It is still unknown if the time control mechanic will be available across all of Amphoreus, or just a specific area similar to Penacony's Dreamscape. Honkai: Star Rail developers also teased that there would be a special map in the Amphoreus update where the Trailblazer “can experience the past and the present in all their glory.”

Likewise, the importance of this power is still under wraps, which could be a hint that Oronyx's presence could be a big deal in the long run. This is interesting because there is a rumor that March 7th may have a big role in the Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0 due to an unannounced character in her likeness known by their divine authority, “Oronyx, Veil of Evernight.” For now, players just have to wait until Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0 launches on January 15th to find out more about Amphoreus and everything within it.
