Resident Evil Requiem adds new DLC minigame

If you're in need of another reason to revisit Resident Evil Requiem, then Capcom has just the thing for you, as the developer has shadow-dropped a new minigame mode, aptly titled “Leon Must Die Forever.”

It's free, and it's available right now, provided you've already beaten the main campaign of Requiem.

Capcom had previously teased the existence of a new game mode, with its director, Koshi Nakanishi, and producer, Masato Kumazawa, urging fans to make sure they've completed the game by Golden Week.

True to their word, the situation has declined.

The official YouTube trailer description is as follows:

Unlocked by completing the story, this additional mini-game mode challenges you to clear numerous stages as Leon while unlocking exclusive booster abilities. The fast-paced action is different from the main story mode and is packed with replay value. Can you make it to the end alive and defeat the boss within the time limit?

Multiple difficulty levels are available, including an extremely high difficulty mode for only the most confident players. True to the title, you will “die forever”…

As Vice noted in his write-up, players will make it through 20 levels before reaching a final boss fight against Victor. It's almost villainous in its approach, as death is permanent and the weapons and abilities you have access to are completely randomized. It also increases in difficulty the further you go.

Leon fires a chainsaw with his ax in Resident Evil Requiem.

The final puzzle in Resident Evil Requiem is a video game mystery well worth enjoying

Players have finally gotten to the bottom of Resident Evil Requiem's final puzzle.

Interestingly, this wouldn't be the first time Capcom has added a post-launch mode with the “Must Die” tagline.

Resident Evil 7: BioHazard had a similar mode, titled “Ethan Must Die”, where players must navigate the house with a random assortment of weapons and items, limited space, and dozens of traps and Molded before facing Marguerite.

Likewise, Village of Shadows in Resident Evil Village made an already pretty tough title that much harder.

In other words, Capcom just loves to inflict pain and see who among us is brave and skilled enough to handle the most difficult Resident Evil experiences.

Even with “Leon Must Die Forever” added, there is still a lot of content in the pipeline for Requiem, including actual DLC. At the moment we have something free and fun for us.
