PS Plus Extra confirms Day One Game for 2025
PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers now have a new Day One game to look forward to in 2025.
Before its release, the game will have an open beta, which PS Plus members will be able to try before everyone else. As announced during October 23 Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase, the ARPG's test is scheduled to take place in two stages, with the exclusive PS Plus test running from 8:00 PM PT on October 28 to 7:59 PM PT on October 30, which is Monday through Wednesday. After a 24-hour break, the second part of the test will start at 8:00 PM PT on October 31st and run until 6:59 PM PT on November 3rd. This step will be open to both Steam and Xbox Series X/S users, as well as PS5 owners without a PS Plus subscription.

While the second part of the test won't require a PS Plus or Xbox Game Pass membership, console owners who want to play the finished product online will still need Sony or Microsoft's subscription service to do so, as is tradition. Everyone who participates in the open beta will get some bonuses that they will be able to claim in the full version of Monster Hunter Wilds. This reward pool includes a sweet Palico pendant and an item pack containing several Mega Potions, Armor Spheres, Nulberries, and Rations, among other consumables.

As for the scope of the test, the demo will include the character creator used to design one's voice Monster Hunter Wilds hunters and their Palico. From there, players will be able to experience a small part of the game's story, including the tutorial Chatacabra hunt and the subsequent Doshaguma hunt.
SOS Flares to summon up to three NPC hunters will be available during both missions, as will the rideable bipedal bird Seikret. Cross-platform multiplayer will also be part of the demo package. Players will be able to transfer their hunter and Palico to the full version of the game, but no other data will be transferred from the beta.
