No one can deny that One Piece has a unique art style that mainly focuses on goofy character designs, bizarre superhuman abilities, and fascinating locations. Fortunately for fans of the series, this eccentric art style has been perfectly replicated in other forms of media, such as anime, movies or video games.

10 Rare One Piece Games That Were Not Released In North America

The One Piece franchise is huge these days in North America. However, a handful of titles were never released outside of Japan.

Since the end of the 90s, there have been many One Piece games that launched on both home consoles and handheld devices. Some of these titles have successfully managed to replicate Eiichiro Oda's signature art style thanks to their high-quality presentation, which is especially true of the latest releases. But what is it One Piece video game with the most impressive graphics?

7 Burning blood

A stylized 3D Arena Fighter

Gear 4 Luffy attacks Donquixote Doflamingo in the Dressrosa scene.

  • Platform(s): PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation Vita, PC
  • Released: 31 May 2016
  • Developer: Spike Chunsoft
  • Genre: Fighting

Most action shōnen series have been adapted into a 3D arena fighting game, and One Piece is obviously no exception. Fortunately, One Piece: Burning Blood is often considered one of the best in the genre, and that's thanks in part to its impeccable presentation.

It's clear that the developers at Spike Chunsoft went for a unique comic book-like style since the high-octane battles of Burning blood use appropriate elements, such as onomatopoeia for attacks, dynamic backgrounds that change colors, and even some type of shading. Combine all this with some really detailed HD models of iconic characters, and this game still looks amazing, even 8 years after its initial release.

6 Great Pirate Coliseum

The bow system works never disappoints

Rob Lucci and Luffy fight in front of the sea train.

  • Platform(s): Nintendo 3DS
  • Released: September 21, 2016
  • Developer: Arc System works
  • Genre: Fighting

There are also quite a few 2D fighting games in this franchise, and in 2016 Arc System Works and Bandai Namco released Great Pirate Coliseum exclusively in Japan. And as you would expect from the developers of incredibly good-looking fighters Dragon Ball FighterZ or Guilty Gear: Strivethis game looks 100%.

It is quite astonishing to remember that Great Pirate Coliseum was developed for the Nintendo 3DS, but it features huge character sprites with extreme amounts of detail, fluid animations, and a fast but complex combat system. It really feels like the player is in control of a battle for an episode of One Piece anime. If Arc System Works one day decides to make a sequel to home consoles of the same quality as Dragon Ball FighterZwould most likely result in the prettiest One Piece game ever made.

5 World seeker

Luffy jumps around the Prison Island overworld.

One Piece: World Seeker

Released

World seeker is an open world One Piece game that may not have lived up to expectations for various reasons, but at least it managed to create a coherent and neat overworld for players to explore.

8 One Piece games with the best combat, ranked

Not every One Piece video game has been a hit, but what makes these games stand out is their top quality combat system.

Prison Island looks colorful and full of life, mostly thanks to its inhabitants: NPCs with special designs that fit into One Piece world. The combat can be repetitive, but it still looks very good, with a lot of special effects that make every fight feel incredible. Presentation-wise, World seeker has all the makings of a solid anime adaptation, and can be seamlessly enjoyed by those who can ignore its obvious problems.

4 Pirate Warriors 4

Defeating multiple enemies at once has never looked so good

Kaido defeats a bunch of enemies with his club.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4

The Pirate Warriors series is arguably the most successful sub-series of video games in the One Piece franchise, so it only stands to reason that the latest entry is the best looking. However, Pirate Warriors 4 is particularly interesting, because all earlier Pirate Warriors The games featured character models with weird HD textures that looked good for the time but haven't aged very well.

Fortunately, Pirate Warriors 4 went for a more cartoony art style that is almost one-to-one to Toei Animation's anime. This is especially true during some of its cutscenes, which replicate memorable scenes from the show with a surprising degree of fidelity, only in 3D instead of 2D. When it comes to gameplay, this game is also optimized quite well, especially on PlayStation 4, where players can use the satisfying battle system to take down entire armies full of enemies with little to no drop in frame rate.

3 Odyssey

The latest Home Console One Piece game looks absolutely gorgeous

Luffy fights a gorilla enemy.

Released
January 13, 2023

Developer
ILCA

ILCA is an upcoming development studio that has tackled iconic IPs and their forays into One Piece franchise has left a very good impression on the audience. After all, Odyssey is not only the last game in the series to be developed for home consoles, but it was also the first to be released on a last-generation system, the PlayStation 5.

As a result Odyssey looks absolutely gorgeous, with some of the most detailed character models of Monkey D. Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates ever created. The menus are incredibly nice, the new characters and enemy NPCs (all of which were designed by Eiichiro Oda himself) look great, and even the environments are pretty true to the anime, especially classic locations like Arabasta, Enies Lobby or Dressrosa. If Toei Animation ever decides to make one One Piece feature film with 3D animation, it should look like this video game.

2 Battle way

Mobile gaming is also raising the bar these days

Luffy attacks Alvida with a Gomu Gomu no Gattling.

  • Platform(s): Android, iOS
  • Released: July 28, 2020
  • Developer: China Mobile Games and Entertainment Group
  • Genre: Action, Adventure, RPG

Mobile gaming has come a long way in recent years, especially in the Asian market, and this can be seen in some of the latest ones One Piece titles developed for mobile devices. One of them is battle path, a 3D action RPG that is exclusive to China, and to the surprise of most fans, it looks absolutely amazing.

6 Best One Piece Handheld Games, Ranked

These fruit-loving pirates have appeared on laptops far and wide. Here are some of the best handheld titles from the gaming side of One Piece.

Unlike other 3D mobile entries in the series, Battle way doesn't have washed out colors or blocky character models, instead it has a lively cartoon art style and faithful character models. It also features some really solid cutscenes that look straight out of the original anime and the gameplay runs remarkably well, although this depends on the smartphone played on. Because of all this, it's a real shame that Western players can't experience Battle way in an official manner.

1 Ambition

An unreleased game that has already impressed fans

Luffy finishes off Arlong with a powerful attack.

  • Platform(s): Android, iOS
  • Released:
  • Developer: More Fun Studios Group and Tencent Games
  • Genre: Fighting

One Piece Ambition technically, it's still not out, but some people have already gotten to try its closed beta, and the leaked images went viral because of how absolutely incredible it looks. Despite being in 3D, this fighting game's impeccable art style makes it seem like the player is controlling Luffy and his friends in an actual episode of the anime.

It is obvious that the developers of One Piece Ambition have a lot of respect and appreciation for both Eiichiro Oda and Toei Animation since they did everything they could to make this game look as good as possible, with its intricate animations, its vibrant colors and its energetic battle system. Fans have been asking for a 2D fighter that could be it One Piece equivalent to Dragon Ball: FighterZ for years and One Piece Ambition has the potential to be just that. However, it is currently unknown if Tencent Games plans to release it outside of China.
