As expected, One Piece Volume 110 SBS also reveals a lot of exciting information, and this issue sees Oda tackle the subject of recent Admirals Of the Marines, Fujitora and Green Bull. Fans have wanted to know their past for a long time, and finally Oda has delivered on that request, explaining to readers where they come from and what they used to do before becoming Marines.

The new admirals in the fleet are a force to be reckoned with

  • Akainu and Aokiji left empty seats for the Navy
  • Fujitora and Greenbull joined the Navy

The new admirals for the Marines were chosen sometime during the 2-year time jump. The reason the Marines needed two new admirals was because of a power vacuum created after the Paramount War. Sengoku left his job and ended up becoming Inspector General. As such, the rank of Admiral of the Navy needed to be filled. Someone had to step up and lead this organization forward. Sengoku put forward Kuzan for this position, while some others, who believed in Absolute Justice, put forward Sakazuki.

Naturally, the marines split into two factions, and this whole conundrum was eventually resolved by Sakazuki and Kuzan fighting a battle against each other on Punk Hazard Island in the New World. This island had previously been abandoned due to a large explosion that made it uninhabitable. This ended up being the battlefield for these animals, who fought a battle for 10 days. Immediately after the conclusion of this battle, a new Admiral of the Fleet was elected. Sakazuki was chosen for the position, while Kuzan ended up leaving the Navy and eventually joined the Blackbeard Pirates.

Of course, the Marines lost two powerful admirals, and this meant they required two new admirals to join. As revealed in Dressrosa, these two admirals were selected through the World Military Draft, and were named Green Bull and Fujitora. As described by Doflamingo himself, they are both absolute monsters. In fact, fans have also seen glimpses of their strength and it's safe to say that they are immensely strong and can even go up against a Yonko in battle, which is a testament to their immense strength.

Considering they joined sometime during the time jump, fans didn't know exactly where they came from and what their pasts were. Of course, readers were always curious about their backstories, and now Oda has finally revealed it to fans.

Oda reveals Fujitora and the Green Bull's past

Fujitora and Greenbull had a very interesting past

In One Piece volume 110 SBS, Oda was directly asked about Admiral Fujitora and Green Bull's past. Considering these two were selected in the World Military Draft, fans were curious about what their lives were like before they joined the Navy and served the government. Oda decided to answer this question properly this time and according to him their lives were quite interesting to say the least.

I heard that both you and Green Bull are total monsters! – Doflamingo

According to Oda, these two were given responsibility for the defense of the nations affiliated with the World Government at one point, and around that time they were handpicked by the marines. They quickly rose to the rank of admiral. This is a clear indication of their incredible strength. Oda also went into deep detail about each of them.

Greenbull was a police officer in the past

According to Oda, Aramaki, also known as Admiral Green Bull, comes from South Blue. He used to be a powerful policeman from a kingdom called Taya. Given his rather criminal personality, Green Bull caused a major incident involving a woman in the kingdom.

This caused him great trouble, and he ended up being thrown into prison. It is unknown exactly what he did and why he was thrown into prison. Maybe his tattoo, which clearly reads “twin suicide by the river”, has something to do with it.

Oda just revealed in SBS Yamato's barnzoan form. This could be huge in understanding Zoan awakenings in One Piece.

Regardless, at this point, Green Bull already had a tremendous strength. It didn't take long for this news to reach the World Government and they decided to seek him out personally. He was named to the World Military Draft and immediately earned a place in the ranks of the admirals. That's how Aramaki ended up becoming a Navy Admiral and the rest is history.

Fujitora worked as a bodyguard at one point in his past

While Green Bull's past is certainly interesting, fans are more excited to know how Admiral Fujitora became as strong as he was and why he joined the Navy in the first place. According to Oda, Admiral Fujitora, whose real name is Issho, is from West Blue. Interestingly, this is the same ocean where Shanks comes from. Fujitora is a gamer, and even then he was very interested in games. On one occasion, he incurred heavy losses due to losing while playing on Twin Snake Island. It is implied that Fujitora was working as a bodyguard at a location after this event, and then this location was bought out by the World Government for a huge amount of money.

It is likely that this is how the World Government found out about him and how he got himself into the Navy and then was promoted to the position of Admiral. But Fujitora's past runs deeper than that. It is also revealed in SBS that Fujitora was a former defense military chief defense military in the Aoi Kingdom. This kingdom existed in the Grand Line at one point, but was destroyed due to war, which explains why Fujitora is as much of a pacifist as he is. For some reason he ended up becoming a war criminal, which may be because he stood up to those who tried to destroy his country.

Maybe these people were connected to the government. Regardless, fans don't know the whole truth about it, but what they do know is that eventually the World Government will be made aware of this fact, meaning his status as a war criminal is not known to them yet. This is a very interesting detail that Oda included in SBS, and hopefully it will make for a very exciting plot point to deal with later on.
