How to get DualSense notifications in Forza Horizon 4
Forza Horizon 4 is the perfect game to play with a controller. Exploring the wonderful world of Great Britain while relaxing in your chair or sofa is a perfect way to unwind after a hard day's work. However, you may miss out on this experience if you have the wrong controls.
Unfortunately, this Microsoft-published game does not support the DualSense controller, which is disappointing, as some PC gamers prefer to use it instead of the Xbox One controller. Thankfully, there is a way to get DualSense to work with the game.

How to get DualSense working on Forza Horizon 4
While the DualSense controller is not supported by Forza Horizon 4can you get it working with steam. Follow these steps to get your game to recognize your PS5 controller:
- Find Forza Horizon 4 in your library.
- Right-click on it and select Properties.
- Navigate to the Controller tab.
- Change “Forza Horizon 4 Override” to use default settings.
Now you can open Forza Horizon 4and your controller will be recognized by the game. However, keep in mind that you will see Xbox messages instead of PlayStation. If that doesn't bother you, you're good to go. But if you prefer proper prompts, keep reading.
Forza Horizon 4 supports both wired and wireless modes for controls.
Alternatively, you can use software such as DS4Windows or DualSenseX to emulate DualSense as an Xbox controller. However, this method is more complicated, so it is recommended to stick with Steam for an easier installation.

How to get DualSense notifications in Forza Horizon 4
To receive DualSense notifications, head over to NexusMods and download PS Buttons mod by fr3374. While this mod is designed for Forza Horizon 5it will also work for FH4.
Once you have downloaded the file, copy ControllerIcons.zip (DO NOT DISPOSE OF IT) and paste it in two places:
- Forza Horizon 4 Install Directory\media\UI\Textures\Data_Bound
- Forza Horizon 4 Install Directory\media\UI\Textures\HiRes\Data_Bound
You will need to replace the existing files, so be sure to do that.
Now open the game again and use your DualSense controller. You should now see the correct prompts, so you can play without being confused by Xbox prompts.
Although we tested this entire method with DualSense controllers, the same process should work seamlessly with the DualShock 4 as well. Although the prompts for DS4 are slightly different in color from those for DualSense, the actual icons remain the same.
