Best way to get all collectibles in Jack Squat

To collect all items in a single run, be sure to clear each area completely before proceeding forward. Several sections of the Jack Squat lock behind you once you advance, especially when entering the basement or dropping from ledges.

Particularly:

  • Grab both Schematics in the opening areas before entering the Little & Big basement.

  • Collect the schematic with the typewriter before dropping off the ledge and triggering the first wave.

  • Don't drop past the typewriter after the first wave until you've picked up both collectibles in the area.

Following this order will prevent you from missing any items or needing to reload a previous save.

Jack Squat Walkthrough (All Office Ruins Collectibles)

It's easy to miss collectibles if you follow the objective markers too quickly. Use the steps below to complete the Jack Squat without missing any items. For help with other assignments, see our 100% Mouse PI for rent pass-through hub.

Get some rest

Before anything, save, because you won't be able to return to the PI Office area once you start the Jack Squat. Then enter the bedroom in Jack's office and interact with the bed.

Find out what's going on and pick up your stocks from Little & Big

Enter the front door to run into John. Go down the stairs and through the door to an enemy filled area. This is a good place to stock up on ammo, armor, and health, and you should make sure to do so before double-jumping out of the arena and continuing to the next typewriter.

Now crouch to get under the wooden planks blocking the door and fall through the floor. You'll see a safe before you drop, but it only holds a little money, so don't worry about opening it unless you really need the money.

Schematic (Tammy's Bearings)

When you fall, grab the Hot Pepper, as the temporary buff will make it much easier to dispatch the enemies you encounter. Then head to the southwest corner of the area to find a schematic attached to Tammy's Bearings. Grab this immediately after you dropas you will not be able to return to this area once you enter the Little & Big basement.

Schematic (small and large front room)

Now follow your Detective's Brush to Little & Big and defeat the enemies inside. Then go to the small room in the northwest corner for another Schematic. As with the previous scheme, this becomes unavailable once you enter the bar's basement, so be sure to grab it before moving on.

If you've grabbed both Schematics, you're now ready to enter the basement and you can use a typewriter to quick save.

Escape through John's Emergency Warp Pipe and run for your life

Flip the switch on the wall to the left of the typewriter to reveal a Warp Pipe. Before entering, grab the armor from the cabinet next to the pipe, as it may come in handy in the next section.

Once you are through the Warp Pipe you can find a safe to your right. It only holds a little money though, so opening it isn't critical.

Now follow your detective brush through an enemy filled basement to reach a room with a typewriter. There is a schematic taped to the wall past the typewriter. Grab this before you drop off the ledgeas it will trigger an escape sequence and prevent you from returning.

Drop off the edge and run away from the giant wave with well-timed crouches, grab tails and double jumps. In the room past the scale, use the Wall Jump platform on the wall and the trampoline to get up onto the scaffolding and follow the path to the next typewriter. Don't drop the ledge next to the typewriter yetas there are two collectibles you need to grab first.

Comic book (Near typewriter pallet)

The first is a comic book, which is on the pallet just before the typewriter. This is easy to miss if you walk right past the typewriteras it is partially hidden by bricks.

The other is a Schematic, which is on the stand opposite the edge. Double jump and use Tail-a-Choppa to reach the scaffolding. Be extra careful when making this jump, as missing it requires you to reload a previous save to try again.

With the schematic and comic collected, go to the ground and run out of the wave again. Don't worry about dealing with the enemies along this path, just go as fast as possible and use Tail-a-Choppa to get a boost from the fans at the end. Then save at the typewriter and drop into the next room to start a fight with the Hitman.

How to beat The Hitman

This fight plays out much like the boss fight at the end of the Secret Show mission, with the Hitman quickly teleporting between locations. Try to stay close to the stairs on the east side of the room, as this makes it easier to track the Hitman's teleport pattern.

When he appears, shoot him with the Devarnisher. That weapon is a good option against fast-moving enemies that are difficult to consistently track, as it deals damage over time, and a handful of hits with the Devarnisher will be enough to bring the Hitman down.

Come on Wanda

With the Hitman defeated, climb the ladder on the west side of the arena and interact with Jack's car to complete the Jack Squat.

Missable collectibles and common mistakes

The most common missed collectibles in Jack Squat occur at key transition points where the game prevents you from returning:

  1. Entering the Little & Big basement locks you out of the Schematics opening area.

  2. Dropping off the ledge after the second basement typewriter triggers the escape sequence and blocks access to that room.

  3. Advancing past the typewriter after the second wave may cause you to miss both collectibles in the area.
