Minecraft Fan Comes With Deepslate Generator Idea Thanks To Brimstone

Five years ago, Minecraft introduced the deepslate in the Caves & Cliffs update, a new, sturdier block found in the lower depths of the Overworld. It works much like stone, turning into cobblestone slabs when mined, and can even be used in its place when crafting items like furnaces. But unlike cobblestone, there is no way to create a generator for renewable and more readily available deepslate.

Cobble generators work by channeling water into lava.

One fan, u/Super_Leadership_808, has a new idea for how Mojang could remedy that, and it's all thanks to the new game Chaos Cube. Launching later this year, the update will add a new Sulfur Cave biome with red-colored cinnabar and yellow crystalline sulfur blocks, home to the new Sulfur Cube mob and, more importantly, sulfur springs.

These will generate on the surface much like how azalea trees appear above lush caves, and the idea is that “sulfur pool water meeting lava will generate deep shale instead of cobblestone, finally giving players a renewable deep shale generator.” What separates sulfur water from regular water is the potent sulfur block, which produces a noxious gas when placed under a source, so tools already exist to bring this concept to life.

What a Deepslate Generator would look like

As for why you'd want renewable deep shale, much like with stone, it's a versatile building block with multiple variations, and having it available via a generator would be less of a hassle than having to venture deep into the overworld every time you want to restock your inventory.

It wouldn't be the first time Mojang has introduced a new block generator either, as you can craft basalt with soul earth, blue ice, and flowing lava. For deepslate, you can accomplish something similar with potent sulfur, and this can even be added to the Wandering Trader's inventory so you don't have to find a sulfur source or cave.

Some have argued that the current cobblestone generator should simply deepslate when at a low enough level, without needing any sulfur at all, but this defeats the purpose of a generator. If you need to venture that low for it to work, you might as well remove existing deepslate, which comes with the added bonus of potentially finding diamonds or other minerals. u/Super_Leadership_808's idea, also submitted to r/MinecraftSuggestions, is not only more practical, but would add some much-needed utility to brimstone caves.
