Marvel Rivals fans want third-person perspective fixed

Marvel Rivals has taken over the hero shooter genre, partly because it lets you play as and battle other Marvel characters, but also because fans of the genre aren't happy with the state of Overwatch. Not only does the superhero shooter represent beloved characters well, but the developers have also made sure their powers lend themselves well to gameplay.

Overwatch Ignorance Enhanced My Time With The Marvel Rivals Beta

I've never played Overwatch, so I didn't endlessly compare it to Rivals during the beta.

However, Marvel Rivals is not flawless. Much like Blizzard's shooter, the lack of role locks has resulted in the formation of team metas where certain roles are left out entirely. However, there also seems to be an issue with the third-person perspective that affects the aim accuracy in the game.

A bit to the right

If you've ever taken the time to study the accuracy of Marvel Rivals, you'll know that aiming slightly to the left of enemies results in a missed shot. Although it sounds perfectly normal, it seems that aiming slightly to the right of them results in a direct hit. This also applies to melee attacks. This is not due to the crosshairs being misplaced, but a known issue with third-person perspective gameplay.

As explained by cavsalmostgotswept in a Reddit post, “It's not so much a Marvel Rivals issue, this is just a third-person cheat.” Other games like Fortnite and Deadlock have made up for this problem, but it seems that Marvel Rivals has yet to address this deceptive design.

Players in the comments noted that this is a common problem in TPS games that needs to be addressed during development. Smite was one of the games brought up that also suffers from this problem, but the developers have managed to work on it.

“I have about 3k hours on Smite and it's definitely not nearly as bad/offset compared to Rivals,” said one comment. “I really wish it would be fixed further down the line to be less extreme, to have to force yourself to essentially not The purpose of the character model is very deterrent.”

Another commenter noted that this was an issue that many fans noted from the beta. “I put this as part of my feedback in both alpha and beta and it was never addressed. Really hope it gets more attention, it's a very frustrating part of the game for me.”

It seems that this is a known problem with such games and developers have found various ways around it. Hopefully Netease will find a way to do that for Marvel Rivals as well.
