When Nintendo Switch 2 first came out, it didn't have many exclusive games to make it a new console that everyone can't miss. Some may argue that this has not changed much to this day, but Pokemon Pokopias success is undeniable, and Donkey Kong Banana was nominated for game of the year at The Game Awards, which is nothing to scoff at. Even if you don't count the exclusive games for the console, the Nintendo Switch 2 is a huge improvement over the original, and it shows when playing previous games as well. For example, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet run so much better on the Switch 2, even without the upgrade, that it single-handedly makes the case for another playthrough.
That's not even all there is, as the system will eventually get more and more exclusive games worth getting the console for, depending on their preferences. For example, Pokemon winds and waves will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, unlike the last one Pokemon Legends: ZA. There are various exclusive games that fans may want to pick up the console for, and yes, I'm going to bring up the elephant in the room regarding the recently announced price hike for the Switch 2. But even then, if you're on the fence about buying Nintendo's new hardware, I implore you to consider doing so this June.

Nintendo reveals the 5 best-selling Switch 2 games of all time
Nintendo reveals the best-selling exclusive Switch 2 games released for its latest home console/handheld hybrid to date.
Why June 2026 is the best time to buy a Switch 2 (before it's too late)
First, let's talk about the price increase. I know, this isn't what you wanted to hear, but the Nintendo Switch 2 is getting a price hike this year. The news was from a few days ago, but the bump is not live yet. The price will increase in Japan on May 25, while it will happen on September 1 in the US, Canada and Europe. The price will be $50 higher than before, which will definitely be felt, and the console will go from $449.99 to $499.99. What follows is that the console will most likely be in higher demand now through the end of August 2026.

The silver lining is that Nintendo has announced a new bundle for the Switch 2, which will go live in June, that lets buyers choose a game for free. The bundle will cost $499.99, so essentially the same as the Switch 2 after the price hike, and it will include a game between:
- Mario Kart World (original price: $79.99)
- Donkey Kong Banana (original price: $69.99)
- Pokemon Pokopia (original price: $69.99)
This is the best bundle for Switch 2 yet. While the price difference makes the package more worth buying if you choose Mario Kart World as your free game, it's still $19.99 off Donkey Kong Banana and Pokemon Pokopia. Given that there is no worldwide release date for the pack, with only the June 2026 window being official at the moment, it's safe to assume that it will sell out quickly on a “while supplies last” basis. It could sell even faster with the looming price hike in September, but if you want a Switch 2, June is when you'll want to get one — if you don't Mario Kart Worldif so, a bundle with this specific game is already available.
