Chests are a common way to get loot Metaphor: ReFantazioalthough not all are sure to open immediately. Some chests can actually be Imitecs, this game's version of mimics. Once the chest begins to open, there is no way out of the battle except to win or be defeated.

Imitecs are usually several levels ahead of the other basic enemies in the dungeon, so it's important to be prepared before trying to fight them. Imitecs also cannot participate in overworld battles like other enemies, further increasing the difficulty of fighting them. Fortunately, there is a way for players to identify any Imitec so they can avoid it or prepare properly before jumping into battle; like this.

Finding Imitecs is easy with Fae Sight from Gallica. Regular chests appear with a white outline, while Imitecs will appear with one of the colors that indicate their level difference to the player. Even if you've seen an Imitec, you can't trigger combat with it outside of the opening of the chest, meaning you can't attempt to stun it with overworld combat.

Imitecs will not attack the player in the overworld or show that they are not a chest, meaning they can be easily avoided if you don't want to fight them. While they can be avoided, they are still a chest, and defeating them will not only reward the player with the usual battle rewards, but also give you an item as if you just looted a chest.

Archetypes level up separately from your party members in Metaphor: ReFantazio; here's how to quickly level up specifics.

There are several forms of Imitecs throughout Metaphor: ReFantazio which have different weaknesses, although they all have a Merchant Archetype weakness that can be exploited. By using the merchant's “Gold Attack”, it Imitec will be lured by the money and consume every other of its Press Turn icons. Even if Imitec hits your weaknesses and gains a third icon, it will still only attack once.

• Gold Attack costs 500 Reeve to use.
• Gold Attack deals weak Almighty damage and has a high chance of getting a critical hit.

Gold Attack will need to be used every turn to keep Imitec distracted, though the cost is well worth the effort. Imitecs not only reward large amounts of EXP and Reeve, but also the items they drop are quite advanced compared to what else is in that dungeon, especially after being cleansed.
