How does the Zombies Rank System work in Black Ops 2 Zombies?
Your Rank in BO2 Zombies depends on your Rounds-to-Downs ratio. This means that the higher round you reach without going down, the higher your Rank will be. Playtime also has a small role to play, but of course you will achieve this by playing. Here are the stat requirements for each rank, as found by Dobby:

To get the maximum rank (Shotgun Rank) you basically need to reach high rounds without going down. Therefore, if you are trying to reach the Shotgun Rank, it is best not to play in co-op, and you should not buy Quick Revive. It's also worth noting that leaving the game will count as a knockdown.
You will earn more “Rank Points” the higher round you reach, but progress is deducted based on how early you died. If you die in rounds 1-5, you will lose the largest number of Rank Points, but if you die above round 40, your Rank Point loss will be minimized.
Tally Marks and Blue Eyes are not related to Rounds, Downs or Kills. Instead, they are based on how many days you have played in a row. Therefore, if you want the Shotgun Rank with blue eyes, you must play five days in a row.
How To Easily Get Shotgun Rank In Black Ops 2 Zombies
Based on the code found by Dobby, there is now a safe way to get Shotgun Ranks. Don't worry about the ak/d ratio, just focus on surviving to high rounds without dying. This can be done on whatever map you feel most comfortable surviving on, but Burying is definitely the easiest.
For the best method to level up to Shotgun Rank, you should reach round 40 without going down. When you reach round 40, finish the game and then repeat the process, eventually you will have Shotgun Rank to brag to your friends about your level!
