Dragon Ball takes martial arts very seriously, so it's not common to see a Z-Fighter fighting with a weapon – especially not a Saiyan. The Saiyans are the greatest warrior race in the multiverse, and their raw potential allows them to overcome any limitation. As lovers of combat, however, some Saiyans will put their pride aside and use a weapon if they need to – or just want to humiliate their opponents for a while.
Saiyans are already extremely powerful, but put a sword in their hands, and even the strongest Dragon Ball characters are in danger. There is nothing a Saiyan can't accomplish if they are in the right state of mind. Giving one a weapon like a sword is just asking for trouble, but that Dragon Ball the universe is deadly enough where not all battles can be won with punches and Ki attacks. Sometimes the best weapon is a literal weapon.

Goten & Trunks start their own sword school in Dragon Ball Online
Goten and Trunks never essentially use swords Dragon Ball timeline, though Dragon ball online originally had very different fates for both characters. Dragon ball online was Akira Toriyama's first real attempt at writing a sequel to the events of Dragon Ball Z. Despite being an MMORPG, Toriyama wrote up an entire timeline explaining what happened to each character after DBZ. Goten and Trunks go on to found the Kikoukenjutsu Sword School.
The Kikoukenjutsu Sword School is designed to teach students how to imbue their weapons with Ki. Inspired by Gohan's book, Cutting Edge Science, i Dragon ball onlinethe people on Earth learn that they can harness Ki themselves. Eventually, Goten and Trunks open up their own sword school along with Krillin's New Turtle School and Tien Shinhan's New Crane School.

Goku Black uses his sword to torture his opponents
Since Goku Black is really just Zamasu in Goku's body, it makes sense that he would inherit his love for blades. Spirit Swords are Zamasu's signature weapon, and taking over Goku allows him to unleash even stronger variations of the technique. Goku Black can use his Ki Control to manifest a simple blade like the Violent Fiece God Slicer, a wider curved sword via the Azure Dragon Sword Model Energy Blade, and a scythe via the Sickle of Sorrow.
IN Dragon Ball SuperGoku Black uses his swordsmanship to terrorize Future Trunks – in a way, and uses his signature weapon against him. Super Saiyan Rosé Goku Black also uses his various Spirit Swords to terrorize and torture Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta when they fight in the anime. Due to his high power level, access to a god form, and pure malice, Goku Black is one of the most dangerous Saiyan swordsmen in the series.

Xeno Gotenks inherits Trunks' sword in Super Dragon Ball Heroes
Since Goten and Trunks don't use swords in the main timeline, the canon version of Gotenks never had a blade of his own. Super Dragon Ball Heroes is a completely different matter, as Xeno Trunks (who is based on Future Trunks) has a sword in all of his appearances. When Xeno Trunks performs the Fusion Dance with Xeno Goten (a variant of Dragon Ball GT Goten), the two become Xeno Gotenks – the only adult version of Gotenks in the series.
Xeno Gotenks inherits Xeno Trunks' sword, but the blade is mostly for decoration. More often than not, Xeno Gotenks sticks to basic attacks, Ki techniques, and his signature transformations in battle. Considering Xeno Trunks is one of the best swordsmen in the series (Saiyan or otherwise), Xeno Gotenks is just as talented. Hailing from the Xeno timeline, Xeno Gotenks is one of the most powerful fusions in the series, but is held back by his lack of God Ki.

Future Trunks is one of the greatest swordsmen in the series
Future Trunks' power level varies quite a bit between them Dragon Ball Super anime and Toyotarou's manga, but one thing is consistent between mediums: Trunks is a great swordsman. Future Trunks has fought with a sword all his life. In his debut appearance in Dragon Ball ZFuture Trunks expertly uses his sword to cut Mecha Frieza to pieces, killing him before their fight can even begin in earnest.
Trunks' sword is later destroyed while fighting Android 18, but he is given a new one by the events of the Goku Black Saga. Although this sword also breaks in the anime, Future Trunks embeds the broken blade with the Genki of every living person on Earth. Combined with God Ki Trunks inherited from training with Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta, Super Saiyan Rage Future Trunks dances around Fused Zamasu and splits him in half with a brilliant parry.

Gohan would be a threat if he continued to use a sword
Gohan has only used a sword a few times Dragon Ball Z In the Saiyan Saga, Gohan uses a sword made for him by Piccolo to survive in the wilderness. In a full-circle moment at the end of the Majin Buu Saga, Gohan pulls out the Z-Sword to train with it to defeat Buu. Gohan proves to be a surprisingly talented swordsman as he gets used to the weight of the Z-Sword before it eventually breaks in half, releasing the old Kai.
Gohan is now stronger than ever thanks to unlocking his Beast form at the end of Dragon Ball Super: Super Heroso he doesn't exactly need a sword anymore. That said, he would be a genuine threat to anyone around him if he kept up with his swordplay. Gohan without a weapon is already an extremely deadly opponent – with a sword in hand, he would perform feats that would make even Future Trunks blush.

Xeno Trunks has the power of the key sword and the super saiyan god on his side
Xeno Trunks is a version of Future Trunks from Super Dragon Ball Heroes who goes on to join the Time Patrol after the events of the Cell Saga, rather than experience Dragon Ball Super. Despite this, Xeno Trunks grows into an incredibly powerful warrior. During the Dark King Mechikabura Saga, Xeno Trunks even unlocks Super Saiyan God – a form that would make him stronger than Xeno Gotenks, much like how Super Saiyan God made Goku stronger than Vegito in Battle of Gods.
IN Super Dragon Ball HeroesXeno Trunks gains access to the Key Sword: an overwhelmingly powerful blade that can channel the Power of Time to make the wielder even stronger. Super Saiyan God Xeno Trunks ends up working alongside Chronoa to seal Mechikabura, an immortal Dark King, with the Key Sword's time-based powers. Since Trunks is a naturally gifted swordsman in every timeline, the combination of Super Saiyan God and Key Sword Xeno makes Trunks even more powerful.

Vegito's Spirit Sword can slice all enemies to shreds
Despite neither Goku nor Vegeta being swordsmen, that didn't stop Vegito from pulling off some of the most impressive swordplay in Dragon Ball when he fought Buuhan at the end of DBZ. Vegito's Spirit Sword easily cuts Majin Buu to pieces, completely humiliating him after wreaking havoc for so long. If Vegito wasn't actively trying to get absorbed, he could have easily killed Buu right then and there.
When Vegito re-enters Dragon Ball Super to fight Fused Zamasu he is just as deadly with a blade. In it Dragon Ball Super manga, Super Saiyan Blue Vegito uses his Spirit Sword to directly bully Zamasu. Vegito cuts off Zamasu's hands, parries and cuts him open to show the immortal Kai how hopeless he is. In terms of power, Vegito remains the strongest Saiyan swordsman in the canon timeline.

CC Gogeta created a sword to fight the Crimson Masked Saiyan
Unlike his Potara Fusion counterpart, Vegito, Gogeta has never used a Spirit Sword in any of his animated appearances – not so for Gogeta in Super Dragon Ball Heroes manga. CC Gogeta comes from the Capsule Corps timeline, where the Z-Fighters experienced the original Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Supermost of DBZ movies and Dragon Ball Super: Broly.
While fighting the Super Saiyan 3 Crimson-Masked Saiyan below Big Bang Mission!!!Gogeta taps into Super Saiyan Blue Evolved and uses his Spirit Sword to cut through Goku Black. Although not a natural swordsman, CC Gogeta is by far the most powerful fusion in the multiverse – if not the strongest being.
