One of the last rewards you can receive in Metaphor: ReFantazio is 'The Apostles of the Apocalypse', which allows you and the team to travel to the Disgraced Ruins just north of Grand Trad. As one of the later game bonuses, the dungeon that the prize money is in can be a bit tougher, depending on your difficulty of course.

How to Unlock “The Apostles Of The Apocalypse” Bounty
'The Apostles of the Apocalypse' reward will be available on 9/26 and have no deadline. It can be accepted from any recruitment center.
It will take you a day to travel to the Disgraced Ruinsso include it in the scheduling of your calendar.
Quest Prep
As with all rewards, you can talk to an informant to learn more. In this case it's the informant in the Hushed Honeybee Inn and you can buy Zealot of the Disgraced Ruins information for 3500 reeve, or save yourself the money because we'll tell you what you need to know here.
If you are short of money, I recommend selling off your valuables and anything you don't need as it is wise to go into this with a decent amount of reeve on you that you will probably use Merchant abilities that require reeve. Of course, you'll want to make sure you have a decent reserve of healing items.
Recommended party setting
There are some useful strategies that can be used here, and depending on the difficulty level you're playing at, you may be able to go in more relaxed or need more fine-tuning. We've broken down which archetypes we've used and why.
Character |
Archetype |
Formation |
Strategy |
---|---|---|---|
Protagonist |
Healer lineage |
Back |
You need a healer, especially with Patraand while any archetype with the right inherited skills could work, so does Healer Light abilities, which Bandit Chief Cistus is weak to. To have Dekunda to remove debuffs would also be a great advantage. |
Some |
Any Paladin/Val |
Front |
Paladin has Light magic synthesis skills that are good for targeting Bandit Chief Cistus' weaknessand it can too act as a tank. Inherits Marakukaja to polish your team's defense would be a bonus too. |
Some |
Köpman's lineage |
Back |
All bandits, including the bandit boss Sistus, can potentially missing their Turn Icon by being distracted by abilities that cost reeveor lead the bandits through the entire dungeon, simply by having a merchant in your party. To have a salesperson on your team is essential. |
Some |
Berserker Lineage/Mage Lineage |
Front/back |
There is one secondary boss after Bandit Chief Cistus who only has a weakness to Strike. Berserker is an ideal candidate to max against this. Mage Lineage is a good option to have various elemental spells to deal with the bandits throughout the dungeon and accompanying Bandit Chief Cistus. It is a good idea to have a party member on each of these and replace them as needed (like bringing in Berserker for the second boss). |
If you have gear that protects against status ailments (especially Enraged) it's worth equipping these.
How to find Bandit Chief Cistus Fervent Zealot
The bandit boss Cistus is found on the deepest level of the Disgraced Ruinsbut luckily needs no extra work to create him. It's not too hard to find him, although we have a full area walkthrough here if you need it.

Combat strategy
Phase 1: Bandit Boss Cistus
The bandit boss Cistus will have two other bandits with him. You can defeat them, but he will simply call them back so you might as well put up with them and kill them at the end.
If you have Marakukaja, use this on your first turn to polish your team's defense. Use your best abilities and synthesis skills to target the bandit boss Cistus' weakness to Light.
You should
aim to use a Merchant Reeve skill at least once per turn
if you can to increase the chance that both the bandit boss and his fellow bandits miss their turn to be lured by money.
Depending on the difficulty level you are on, this the battle should be pretty easy as long as you keep your party healed and remove status ailments like Enraged when you can so you don't miss out on losing your more powerful Synthesis Skills. You can also use Dekunda to remove debuffs.
After defeating the bandit boss, you still have to defeat his bandit buddies before the battle endsthen you'll be thrown into another boss battle. If you took our advice and have a Mage archetype on you, you should be able to make quick work of these two laggards.
Phase 2: Homo Sondro
Homo Sondro can be a bit annoying as it repels Strike, Pierce and Electric and resists light. Its
only weakness is Strike, so we recommend swapping one of your party members for a Berserker
at this time.
Focus down Homo Sondro village use your Berserker's best synthesis skills to punch through his HP. Keep your party healed, especially as Slam Shatter and Gakandeon can do decent damage to your team and watch out for electrical attacks.
If you have items or abilities that remove enemy fans, you may want to use these but Homo Sondro will just cast Breath of Battle again when you remove it.
The upside is that it means it's a swing icon that it doesn't use to attack you.
Once you fell this human beast, your task is finally complete.
Rewards for defeating the bandit boss Cistus Fervent Zealot and Homo Sondro
You will earn 115,000 revs and four points of courage to submit the Bounty at the Recruitment Centre.
You also get one Strength incense and Frostbite Axe for defeating Bandit Chief Cistus. You get too Golden armor for defeating Homo Sondro, as well as the Founder's Hatchet, you must submit to the recruitment center.
