Hit And Run Remake Tipped by Insider

While discussing the recent reveal of a new Spyro the Dragon game and Xbox's treatment of Activision's classic lineup, VGC's Jordan Middler has strongly hinted that a remake of The Simpsons: Hit & Run is in the works.

Love them or hate them, remakes and remasters have become a huge part of the gaming industry, with tons of developers and publishers dipping into their back catalog to revisit older games and hopefully bring in their audience. However, there is one game that pretty much everyone goes to as the first choice to get a remake – The Simpsons: Hit & Run.

Since its release in 2003, Hit & Run has had a reputation as one of the best licensed games out there, and while The Simpsons itself has lost some of its luster over the years, Hit & Run has always been at the top of fan requests. That dream might not be as far-fetched as we all assumed, but as a trusted insider has suggested, it's actually happening.

VGC's Jordan Middler teases Hit And Run remake is in the works

“The one everyone is absolutely desperate for”

On the latest episode of VGC: The Video Game Podcast, trusted insider Jordan Middler discussed the state of Activision's back catalog following the announcement of Spyro: A Realm Beyond at the Xbox Games Showcase. Middler says that Activision's next step is to bring back some of its licensed games which of course includes Hit & Run.

The next Simpsons game can't be a hit & run remake

The Simpsons Hit & Run is a requested remake, but a new Simpsons game is exactly what we need.

Middler says that “the one that everyone is absolutely desperate for happens,” which seems like a big nod towards a potential Hit & Run remake. While there are plenty of classic Activision games that would be well-suited for a remake, Middler made the tease a little clearer by signing off from the podcast by saying that the crew will “hit and run” from there.

I think Activision's next step, and they're doing this with a very important one, is to try to bring back some more of that licensed material, like making new versions of the licensed games. The thing that everyone is absolutely desperate for happens. – Jordan Middler

Considering how long it's been since Hit & Run was released, many doubted that a remake would ever happen, but there have been some recent developments that have made it seem a little more likely. Original developer Radical Entertainment recently reformed into New Radical Games, which already started a lot of Buzz (Cola) that Hit & Run might be coming back.
