Streamer Frogboyx1Gaming has apparently received an unexpected email from Best Buy, and the message leaks the expected Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-order date, which is probably set to go live as early as May 18. There have been plenty Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks over the past few years, and many of them have turned out to be fake or nothing more than Internet hoaxes. As such, fans should take this information with a grain of salt.
So far May has been a disappointing month for GTA 6 fans. Many fans have been expecting Rockstar Games to finally release the third trailer, especially since it's been so long since the company last shared anything major about the game. Fans have obviously had to wait. Then, out of nowhere, reports emerged claiming that some people had received a mysterious marketing email that, if true, could turn out to be one of the biggest leaks in gaming history.

It's officially time to start worrying about Grand Theft Auto 6's release date
Grand Theft Auto 6 has now entered its final pre-release stretch where continued radio silence from Rockstar can still be seen as usual.
Best Buy accused of leaking GTA 6 pre-order date
- GTA 6 alleged pre-order date: May 18 to May 21
During a livestream about console and PC gaming, creator Frogybogx1Gaming abruptly stopped the conversation, claiming he had received an email from Best Buy's affiliate team informing him of an upcoming GTA 6 pre-order campaign, which is said to start on May 18th and end on May 21st. The creator held his phone up to the camera and showed the sender's email address to prove he wasn't lying.

Others have since verified that the email appears to have come from a legitimate Best Buy marketing department that handles affiliate campaigns. That said, it's still possible to fake an email like this. Many skeptics are advising fans to keep their expectations in check, as the whole story could still turn out to be another fake leak. But considering how desperate GTA 6 the fanbase has been for updates, news of the leak is spreading fast and there seems to be no stopping it.
For those wondering why Best Buy would send out such an email, the claim is that the company is promoting its own affiliate offering to partners. According to the alleged announcement, Best Buy plans to offer creators a 5% commission on the game's price if they promote GTA 6s supposed pre-order through affiliate links that direct customers to the retailer's stores. Previously, Take-Two executives assured fans of that GTA 6 marketing campaigns would begin soon, lending some credence to these claims. but such a promotion feels a little unrealistic.
If the leak is legit, fans may finally learn just how much GTA 6 will cost. Even more exciting, it could also mean that the long-awaited third trailer is finally on its way. Those who believe the leak is real also point to the fact that Take-Two Interactive has an earnings call scheduled for May 21, which happens to coincide with the reported end date of Best Buy's alleged promotion. In other words, some fans think it would make sense for the publisher to open up pre-orders before that meeting so it can present impressive engagement numbers and other pleasing stats to shareholders.
Currently, however, there is no way to fully verify or disprove what is claimed GTA 6 pre-order leak, as neither Best Buy nor Rockstar Games have commented on the matter. As a result, fans should still take the information with a grain of salt and remember that the leak could ultimately turn out to be fake.
