As summer approaches, four Xbox Games will be winding down their online services for good over the next few months. Most of these Xbox titles are sports games, which due to their annual release schedule often fall victim to online server shutdowns as players progress to the latest release.
Xbox Games Shutdown (July + August 2026)
- Madden NFL 23 (July 13, 2026)
- NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 (August 20, 2026)
- WWE 2K Battlegrounds (August 20, 2026)
- Warface: Clutch (August 25, 2026)
The first upcoming shutdown belongs to Madden NFL 23which will see its servers shut down for the last time on July 13th. There have been three games in the series since, with the 2027 edition due out in August, so this suspension (sadly) makes sense. This will be followed by NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 and WWE 2K Battlegroundsboth of which will lose online services on August 20. They're both Saber Interactive games that put an arcade spin on their respective sports, so it's definitely a shame to see them go. The last game is Warface: Clutchwhich goes offline on August 25th, after being shut down on PC back in May.
