Daredevil: Born Again has been on the way now, with Marvel Studios having to wait several years after regaining the TV rights to the character following the highly successful Netflix Daredevil show. With the rights secured and the content period over, the studio finally greenlit the aptly named project fans had been clamoring for Daredevil: Born Again and Daredevil leading man Charlie Cox back in the title role. The project would be drastically overhauled despite being far into development, and more stars would return from the Netflix era, including Vincent D'Onofrio returning as the Kingpin with some prosthetic help.

Marvel shouldn't miss the boat for a character's chance in the game ramp

The industry is seeing a bit of a Marvel renaissance, and a recently popular character should inspire a darker gaming universe.

Although there aren't a ton of details out there about Daredevil: Born Again, fans previously got a pretty good look at the new costumes for Cox's Daredevil and villain Bullseye, but now there's an even better look at the suit the Man Without Fear will be donning for the upcoming series. As part of the promotional exhibit set up by Marvel Studios at the recent Comic-Con event in New York, fans were able to get a closer look at Daredevil's Born again costume for display on a mannequin, complete with boots, gloves and the iconic mask. Several fans in attendance, such as Brandon Davis on YouTube, took to social media to post photos and videos of the display from the exhibit.

Also on display was the Kingpin's getup, but since the New York bigwig pretty much only wears suits, fans weren't quite as eager to scrutinize it. As for the Daredevil costume, it retains much of the Netflix-era look on the headgear and does teak elsewhere to better match the look the show's directors have in mind for the character in the MCU. Plus, it's also different from what Cox has used in previous MCU cameos and still a far cry from the sort of comic-accurate Daredevil look that Cox has had put on him in MCU fanart. Most notably, the suit still lacks its comic variant's iconic Daredevil emblem on the chest area, keeping it in line with the previous live-action designs in that regard.

The first video preview of the suit in action made it look like Daredevil: Born Again suit will fit well with the promised brutal action that has fans skeptical, and the chance for much closer scrutiny seems to highlight the same. Taking form over function is a pretty important part of adapting a medium like comic books to live-action, especially if the show is intended to appeal to an older audience with gritty, grounded action and plot. This will be especially important for the MCU's Daredevil, as new fans will expect that vibe from the show after acts that Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*, and Netflix-era fans are coming to the series premiere with concerns about the MCU's more kid-friendly content strategy. To truly succeed, Daredevil must remain a mature show made for the audience it most appeals to.

Even more than tone, it's become a matter of utmost importance that Daredevil needs to remain a street-level hero in the MCU, and that includes looking like one. For better or for worse, the suit clearly looks like it belongs in a gritty TV show and will likely retain that same vibe when the Man Without Fear inevitably needs to lend a helping hand to the franchise's other heroes.

Daredevil: Born Again is currently set to debut on Disney+ in March 2025.
