Every new Rasengan variant in the series, ranked

The Rasengan is one of the most powerful and iconic jutsu in both Naruto and Boruto. Invented by the late Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, the Rasengan is heavily inspired by the inner workings of Tailed Beast Bombs. This jutsu eventually reached greater power and unlocked different variants as Naruto Uzumaki successfully integrated different chakra natures into the jutsu.

Naruto Uzumaki strongest jutsu in two blue vortex

Boruto: Naruto Uzumaki's Strongest Jutsus in the new Two Blue Vortex Manga

Boruto geeked out on Naruto, but he still has many overpowered abilities in the Two Blue Vortex.

Boruto Uzumaki further expanded the Rasengan's variants i Boruto series by doing the same thing as his father. Over 100 chapters later, Boruto Uzumaki now has an extremely overpowered Rasengan that even the likes of Code, who scale higher than Jigen, fear. Uzuhiko is far from the only Rasengan variant at Boruto's disposal, as he can use several others as well in the series.

Boruto's Wind Release: The Rasengan requires extreme control

boruto wind style rasengan
boruto wind style rasengan

Naruto Uzumaki is the strongest Rasengan user when it comes to Wind Release infused variants. It is one of the most difficult Rasengan variants for both young Naruto and Boruto to master, as they each need to use a shadow claw to successfully manifest and control the jutsu.

During Kakashi's training in the anime, Boruto Uzumaki eventually learned the Wind Release: Rasengan, which he later used against Deepa despite knowing that it is incomplete and is much weaker than the standard Rasengan he often uses on the battlefield.

Boruto learns the Standard Rasengan faster than expected

The Rasengan is a complex jutsu that even Naruto Uzumaki had a hard time mastering Naruto. In fact, creating even a small Rasengan is notoriously challenging, yet Boruto managed to manifest one in no time, using the remarkable chakra control passed down through his Hyuga lineage.

Although Boruto's standard Rasengan is not very powerful, his ability to create it with relative ease is a testament to his incredible talent. Although he was later tutored by Konohamaru, mastering the technique initially came down to his own ability.

Lightning Release: The Vanishing Rasengan is Boruto's iconic Jutsu

boruto disappears rasengan

Boruto Uzumaki has a strong affinity for Lightning Release, allowing him to subconsciously infuse his Rasengan with lightning in his very first attempt to impress Sasuke Uchiha with a standard Rasengan. Although the Vanishing Rasengan's size is much smaller than the standard Rasengan, its effects are surprisingly deadly, which speaks volumes for Boruto Uzumaki's potential.

As the name suggests, Boruto's Vanishing Rasengan behaves like a standard Rasengan when launched, but it dissipates or dissipates mid-flight before hitting its target with a delayed, unexpected impact. Just when you think the Vanishing Rasengan isn't strong enough to land a hit, it proves otherwise.

5

Boruto's compression Rasengan is highly condensed

Boruto's Compression Rasengan is a double-edged sword, greatly amplifying the power of a standard Rasengan but carrying a dangerous recoil that puts his arm at great risk. He can only use it in rare situations, when circumstances force him to rely on it, like when he fought Deepa in the anime.

The Compression Rasengan is a highly condensed Rasengan variant that requires relatively little chakra to perform yet delivers far greater power and punch than a standard Rasengan by bypassing an opponent's defenses.

Boruto's Super Compression Rasengan ignores impenetrable armor

The Super Compression Rasengan is an improved version of the Compression Rasengan. Boruto used it in the anime to penetrate Deepa's carbon armor. Just like its base form, the Super Compression Rasengan is incredibly dangerous to both the user and the target. Despite its increased power, the Super Compression Rasengan has serious drawbacks, leaving Boruto's arm severely damaged.

This advanced variant compresses a standard Rasengan to an extreme degree. However, Boruto was only able to pull it off with Mitsuki's senjutsu chakra and Sarada Uchiha's help, as she supported him from behind to deal with the recoil.

Boruto's Ultra Big-Ball Rasengan requires massive chakra reserves

One of Boruto Uzumaki's early goals in the series is to manifest a Big-Ball Rasengan, much like his father, who successfully mastered it as his skill developed. However, only those with huge chakra reserves can pull it off, which initially disappointed Boruto, as he lacks the same large chakra pool that his father once had with Kurama.

Despite this limitation, Boruto Uzumaki later gained access to the Ultra Big-Ball Rasengan thanks to Momoshiki Otsutsuki's intervention. With Momoshiki's power, Boruto no longer has to worry about draining his chakra when using jutsu.

Naruto and Boruto's giant father-and-son Rasengan defeated Momoshiki Otsutsuki

boruto parent and child rasengan
boruto parent and child rasengan

The Parent and Child Rasengan is one of the most striking Rasengan variants in the Boruto series. Boruto first used it against Momoshiki Otsutsuki in the Versus Momoshiki story arc, with the help of Naruto Uzumaki, who greatly enhanced the power of Boruto's little Rasengan.

With Naruto's cooperation, Boruto manifested a massive Rasengan, which worked similarly to his Vanishing Rasengan. This rare collaboration Rasengan jutsu left Momoshiki Otsutsuki confused and surprised, ultimately resulting in his defeat.

1

Boruto's Rasengan Uzuhiko is infused with unlimited power

The time jump between Boruto: Naruto Next Generations and Boruto: Two Blue Vortex dramatically increased Boruto Uzumaki's power level. With Sasuke Uchiha's training, Kashin Koji's Prescience and Momoshiki Otsutsuki's Karma, Boruto rises to a whole new level that not even the no-limiter Code or any of the most elite shinobi from the older generation can match.

One of Boruto's crazy power-ups is Uzuhiko, an advanced Rasengan variant conceptually infused with limitless power. After all, Uzuhiko is armed with Earth's Endless Planet Chakra combined with Boruto's chakra. A direct hit from Uzuhiko leaves victims like Code in a state of perpetual dizziness and drastically weakened motor skills, causing their physical condition to spiral downward towards death unless Boruto removes the effect.
