Dragon Ball Super Remake Leaks A Disappointment Of Goku Black Saga & Top Update

When Dragon Ball Super: Beerus was announced at the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri earlier this year in late January, Dragon Ball fans naturally assumed that the new anime would remake the entire series. Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026 only added fuel to the fire with the reveal of a new one Dragon Ball: Frieza anime, to be remade Resurrection F this autumn. Unfortunately, another leak from a credible series insiders suggest that the remake won't even adapt the anime's two best story arcs.

There have been rumors circulating that Dragon Ball Super remake will not remaster either the Goku Black Saga or the Tournament of Power, two arcs that are very different in the manga and would benefit the most from a revision. Dragon Ball Insider Anime Ajay revealed on X that everyone on the remake's production staff has left the series to work on it Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrolthe new anime that will adapt Moro Saga, which means Dragon Ball Super remake will only cover Battle of Gods, Resurrection Fand the Universe 6 tournament, which ends after 18 to 20 episodes.

Dragon Ball Super Remake will only go up to the Universe 6 Tournament

With the entire production staff on Dragon Ball Super remake is now working exclusively on Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol anime according to Anime Ajay, fans will have to skip to the original Dragon Ball Super anime's Goku Black Saga and Tournament of Power to continue the story. It has been leaked Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be 6 episodes, Dragon Ball Super: Frieza will be either 5 or 6, and Universe 6 anime will be 8 or 9.

These are the only three sagas that were remastered before the shift to the Moro arc. The good news of all this is that Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol coming out earlier. Provided Dragon Ball Super: Beerus first week in October and lasts for 20 weeks, Dragon Ball fans could realistically see the anime's take on the Moro Saga as early as late 2026 – although an early 2027 release seems much more realistic, as The Galactic Patrol anime will have to animate the story from scratch, as opposed to just remaking and remastering already existing movies.

The downside is that all the new fans hoping for the series with Dragon Ball Super remake will have to start the old anime halfway, or risk being lost when they dive into Moro Saga.

Goku Black Saga & Tournament of Power can still happen after Moro Arc

In a follow-up tweet to his original post on X, Anime Ajay wrote, “Many of you seem to have taken this to mean that this won't EVER happen. That's not what's being said here. Just that before Moro will cover the first few arcs. I'd be surprised if the rest wasn't done in the meantime while pre-production is done on the next manga.” It would make sense to Dragon Ball Super the team wants to prioritize the momentum behind the new anime, as opposed to the remake, while capitalizing on the hype behind the Moro Saga.

Dragon Ball: Every Saiyan's Best Transformation

There are dozens of Super Saiyan forms, each stronger than the last – but not all Saiyans have the power to use their race's strongest forms.

There is also a precedent for this type of production Dragon Ball history. The original Dragon Ball Kai anime only covered everything up to Cell Saga, and it took three years for the series to come back as Dragon Ball Kai: The Final Chapters to finish the adaptation of the Majin Buu Saga. If all goes well, Dragon Ball Super remake will cover the first three arcs in 2026, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol will be released in 2027, the Goku Black Saga and Tournament of Power remakes will run through 2028, and Dragon Ball Super: Granolah anime is coming out in 2029. Only time will tell what the future holds Dragon Ball Super remake holds up though.
