Crimson Desert DLC confirmed by Pearl Abyss

Crimson Desert has gone from strength to strength in recent months. Consistent updates have left the game in an almost unrecognizable state compared to the version I originally played during the review period, and it looks like Pearl Abyss has no intention of slowing down. Not only are there more significant updates planned between June and September this year, the studio has now officially confirmed that it is working on a Crimson Desert DLC.

The cadence of updates so far has been so fast that we may actually see this DLC before the end of the year.

There's more on the way for the rest of 2026

Balthazar The Wyvernflame appears in the Crimson Desert.

In the latest developer blog post, Pearl Abyss took a moment to thank players for all the feedback since the game launched in March. Then it's right into the juicy stuff, with planned “story enhancements” that will “refine” and “improve the coherence” of key scenes in the game. I personally never had much of a problem with the story – it was generally a means to an end – but the lack of a compelling narrative has been a major complaint from players. I'm not sure what this could mean though. Maybe extended cutscenes?

The post also addresses a couple of other key areas, such as improving the new reblock system, introducing a new cross-save feature so you can play seamlessly between platforms, and further improvements to Damiane and Oongka, who despite the recent tweaks and changes still feel a bit rough compared to Kliff. I'm also pretty hopeful that the “quality of life improvements for non-combat content” mentioned at the end of the post is a reference to more life sim content. When all is said and done and Pywel is saved, I love the idea of just trading, farming, fishing and hunting.

However, we have to turn to Discord to get some info, however slim, about the upcoming Crimson Desert DLC. Community manager Petra linked the new developer post and said below:

“Our updates to Pywel don't end with the content and features listed here. We're also hard at work on an upcoming Crimson Desert DLC. We'll be sharing more information in the future, so stay tuned!”

I'm pretty sure this is the first time the DLC has been officially confirmed by a member of Pearl Abyss, despite it being mentioned during a recent Pearl Abyss conversation. That's all the information we have so far, although the post only covering up until September makes me wonder if it's teasing something like a release date.

If so, I have no idea how Pearl Abyss does it. The updates have been non-stop and now there's a DLC on the way? This feels like a pretty unprecedented level of post-launch support for a single-player game.
