Call Of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies finally has a directed mode

Important takeaways

  • Starting today, Directed Mode is finally part of Black Ops 6's Zombies mode.

  • The mode helps players see the full story of a game's map using in-game guidance and round caps.

  • It's another great form of accessibility, especially as Call of Duty's Zombies mode has a strong storyline that's worth experiencing.

Longtime Call of Duty Zombies fans know that the ongoing action in the game is no laughing matter. It's actually pretty damn well written, with each map providing a bit more lore for the larger world.

That said, not everyone has been able to experience history. It's not for lack of trying either, but seeing a map's story to the end takes some skill and some luck. Since it's tied to actually surviving and progressing through the map, some players either don't have the ability to last that long or a group of friends to cooperate with.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies Isn't Weird Enough

I'm getting a little tired of military outposts.

But starting with Black Ops 6, Treyarch decided to change that. In addition to offering a standard mode, Treyarch also outlined plans for a targeted mode, which will help players experience the game's story in a much more forgiving environment. Flash forward to today and the targeted mode is finally here.

Everyone can have fun

As announced on Twitter, Directed Mode for Black Ops 6's first two Zombies maps (Terminus and Liberty Falls) has arrived. Previously, Treyarch told us that the mode wouldn't be available until players had a chance to discover every nook and cranny of the map without needing a guide. Once that was achieved, Directed Mode could make its way into the game for those who need a helping hand.

According to Treyarch's tweet, the targeted mode caps the game at round 15, meaning the tougher zombies that usually come late in the run won't be present. Additionally, side missions and SAM attempts will be disabled, and the Rampage Inducer will not be around to activate.

Instead, players will be able to focus on the main quest with built-in guidance to help them see it through to the end. And just so Directed Mode players don't feel left out, there will still be XP rewards, as well as Calling Cards and Weapon Charms. Special rewards have also been added for those who choose to play on Standard.

The end result is a mode that is much more accessible than previous iterations. And with the Zombies storyline gradually heating up, there's no better time than now to jump in. Only time will tell if Treyarch or Activision choose to resurrect past maps with Directed Mode, allowing players to go through them as well. But for now, it's a start in the right direction.
