Subaru Natsuki is not in the right mental state right now, as he has lost his memories and is also being hunted by someone who is trying to kill him. On his first loop, Subaru did Ram, who couldn't believe that he suddenly got amnesia at the worst possible moment.
The tension between them eventually reached a boiling point, with Ram driving the Subaru endlessly. Ram refused to accept Subaru's explanations, making it seem like she had her own motives for turning against him. Subaru even heard Ram suggest that the group leave him behind, as he had become a burden they could no longer handle.
Meanwhile, Meili is also acting suspiciously, especially in how she interacts with an amnesiac Subaru. As an assassin still intent on killing Subaru, Meili's behavior only adds to the uncertainty surrounding the traitor's identity. Subaru needs to compose himself at this point, not only for his sake but also for the victims of the witch cult who still trust him.

Subaru loses his memories in Re: Zero Season 4 shortly after opening a mysterious door and climbing a staircase leading to an unusual room. Soon after, Emilia and Beatrice discover him unconscious in the archive room on the third floor before moving him to the Green Room to recover. This is where he wakes up as an amnesiac, with no memories of his first year in the isekai world.
As said, Re: Zero Season 4 Episode 9 is shaping up to be a pivotal episode where Subaru can either regain his memories or end up in an even worse state. It's clear that someone is playing a trick on Subaru, and whoever that person or creature is is going to stop him from conquering the second floor trial, not to mention the entire watchtower.
