Assault rifles pack a miserable punch compared to most other weapons Battlefied 6. They can adapt to most areas of engagement while dealing decent damage to their targets, and while these weapons have to deal with a bit more recoil than carbines or SMGs, assault rifles outshine the latter two categories when used properly.
This guide covers all the guns in the assault rifle category and compares them to each other to find the best AR in BF6. We've ranked them by their versatility across the usual engagement ranges for this weapon type, but we'll still go into smaller details about each weapon to help you find the best one for you.
Best AR in Battlefield 6
- Code 6P67
- M433
- NVO-228E
- B36A4
- TR-7
- L85A3
- SOR-556
- AK4D
Given the common engagement ranges across many maps i Battlefield 6players will want to use an assault rifle that can compete against other weapons between 10 and 80 meters. Kord is our top pick because its high accuracy, low recoil and tremendous rate of fire make it suitable for any firefight. At the same time, the AK4D is at the bottom due to its specialized role as a medium battle rifle that fights a bit at close range.
Code 6P67
This assault rifle is basically a larger version of Battlefield 6's M4A1 in terms of performance and overall feel. Kord deals less damage at close range, but has significantly less recoil, much better accuracy, and a 2-round burst feature that makes it incredibly easy to use against targets 80+ yards away. This may not be the fastest killing rifle, but its consistency over the usual engagement distances is second to none.
The fire rate of the sword can be a disadvantage for some players. Because it fires so fast, you'll waste more bullets when you miss your shots. It's also more prone to overshooting targets, which can make multi-target battles a bit more difficult. These are minor nitpicks though, as whether or not a Kord user wins a shootout comes down to sheer skill.
M433
The M433 is a beast up close, and when you build it right it's pretty decent at longer range too. This rifle can hit an opponent in 4 body hits within the 10 meter limit, and with its rapid rate of fire of 830 rpm you will outperformed the majority of the other assault riflesincluding Kord 6P67.
However, the M433's recoil can be a bit difficult to get used to. It tends to veer to the right when you fire, and even with accessories there is still a noticeable kick to the right when shooting this gun at times. It's nothing that can't be compensated for, but the jerky recoil can potentially throw off your shots at times.
NVO-228E
Although the NVO-228E fires slower than the latter two assault rifles, it deals more damage over range, making it more consistent when fighting at the 40+ meter mark. This rifle's recoil is also much more stable than the M433's, and it's also quite accurate, even with weapon bloom working against you.
The NVO-228E is the perfect gun for gamers who care more about ease of use than time to kill. It performs great even without accessories, and with the right construction, this rifle becomes extremely reliable. Still, you'll likely be overrun in a direct melee if they use either of the two assault rifles above, but there's a trick — the NVO-228E can kill in 3 body shots from 5 meters away. Keep that in mind.
B36A4
This weapon is very similar to the NVO-228E in terms of overall performance. It is designed for mid-level fights, but with a rate of fire of 720 RPM, it is much more competitive at close range compared to the NVO-228E. The recoil of the B36A4, both visual and actual, is much more subdued than the M433's and NVO's, making this rifle feel buttery when fully equipped.
There's really nothing to complain about. The B36A4 is perfectly placed in the middle of all the automatic rifles in the Battlefield 6. It's an absolute top, so treat it as the standard that all other ARs are based on.
TR-7
Our first impressions of the TR-7 were terrible, to say the least. The gun kicked too hard to the left when firing, and it begins to suffer from accuracy bloom by the third bullet in a burst. But after giving it a good shake, we've found that the TR-7 is hands-down the strongest assault rifle at close range. This thing gives every other AR within 20 yards a run for its money, and it's on par with the M277 carbine in terms of damage at 75 to 80 yards.
Of course, the TR-7's recoil is still its biggest drawback. Good mounts make the gun much easier to use, but it's still a terrible medium range weapon.
L85A3
Speaking of mid-range, the remaining weapons on this list are all about those 40- to 80-meter fights. Among them, we have found the L85A3 to be the most reliable. Its accuracy, recoil and rate of fire are all perfect for the intended engagement distanceand it can hold its own against other weapons at close range as well.
The L85A3 is a little harder to control than the SOR-556, but not by much. Think of this rifle as somewhere between the SOR and the NVO, and if you like either of those pistols, you'll probably like the L85A3 as well.
SOR-556
While the SOR-556 isn't a terrible gun, its slow rate of fire holds it back from being competitive at close range compared to other assault rifles. However, it still is very deadly in these mid-range battlesand while its accuracy is a bit finicky, it gets the job done more times than not. Its greatest strength is its extremely low recoiland it is much more comparable to the UMG-40 SMG than any of the other ARs.
The SOR-556 is mainly good for large maps like Operation Firestorm, Mirak Valley and even Liberation Peak, where there are plenty of long lines of sight. Players with good aim can use Hollow Points or Synthetic Tip ammo on the SOR to make it significantly more effective when hitting headshots.
AK4D
The AK4D can chew up anyone between 40 and 80 metershowever, due to its slow rate of fire of 514 RPM, it tends to get beaten by most other guns in a 10 to 25 yard shootout. This battle rifle shares the same damage profile as the M/60 machine gun i BF6which means it can kill with 3 bullets from 10 meters away, and 4 bullets from up to 75 meters away.
Even with its high lethality at close range, the AK4D is still very susceptible to being outgunned at close range, as missed shots with such a low rate of fire are more punishing. It's not a terrible weapon, but its effective engagement range is more limited compared to the others.
