Review of One Piece Episode 1161

One Piece Episode 1161 was mainly focused on Luffy's interaction with Loki. The latter had presented himself as the sun god and the person who would destroy the world. The new one One Piece the episode began with Luffy getting excited over the fact that the Straw Hats made it to Elbaph in one piece.

However, Loki was hardly impressed by Luffy's behavior, so he let out a scream. Then he reminded Luffy again that he was the Sun God. Loki also told the pirate not to interrupt him while he was talking. As their conversation continued, Loki told Luffy that he had been in chains for six whole years.

Luffy and Loki's affair may backfire

Unsurprisingly, Loki was tired of being in chains, so he made him an offer – to wipe out any pirate crew the hero wanted. The giant mentioned that the Sea Prism Stone made him weak and confirmed that he is a Devil Fruit user. Unable to break free, he tried to make a deal with Luffy. He even told me that the key was somewhere in the village. Furthermore, he warned Luffy that they were currently in the Underworld section of Elbaph, a place that only the brave dared cross.

Not long after, several huge beasts surrounded Luffy. Furthermore, a group of strangely dressed people also came out of hiding. They were convinced that the beasts would tear Luffy apart. But they were shocked after seeing how nicely the beasts treated him. It was during this time that Luffy found out that Shanks had visited Elbaph.

He was naturally overjoyed and ran towards Loki. Luffy began to question the giant about Shanks and why he had come to Elbaph. Instead of giving an honest answer, Loki taunted Shanks by calling him a cowardly pirate. This statement angered Luffy and he immediately went into Gear 4 and nearly took Loki's head off with one punch. Loki then clarified that he was only joking, but at the same time he found Luffy's Achilles heel. When Luffy asked again, Loki explained that he would not reveal the information for free.

Nico Robin's reunion with Saul

In the second half of the episode, fans saw Nico Robin getting ready to meet Saul. The two had met decades ago on Ohara, before the island was destroyed by a Buster Call. Robin managed to escape the island due to Saul's sacrifice. After the incident, Robin believed that Saul had perished along with Ohara. However, in the Egghead arc, it was confirmed that Saul was alive, which made Robin happy. Now that she is finally in Elbaph, the reunion will finally happen.

One Piece Episode 1161 also revealed that Nami's group was being hunted by giants. Oddly enough, Goldberg, one of the giants, wore the thousand sunnies. Zoro wanted to beat all the giants, but Usopp stopped him. Instead, he asked his friends to hurry to the nearby village.

Overall, it was another solid episode that revealed some important points related to various characters. Of all the information, the one related to Loki's special reward stood out the most. Given the history of the World Government, it is unlikely that the decision to give Loki the unique reward was based solely on a whim. The organization probably has plans for Loki. Either the higher ups want to make him part of their forces or get rid of the cursed prince as quickly as possible. But the answer to this likely won't be revealed for a few more episodes. The next episode will split the spotlight equally between all the Straw Hats, so it's unlikely that the truth about Loki's reward will be shared in the same segment.
