Season 2 of Battlefield 6 ending with a final update launching on May 5, bringing some quality-of-life improvements ahead of next week's launch of Season 3. Battlefield Studios continues to update Battlefield 6 as the community has expressed mixed feelings about the state of the game, and player numbers have dropped following a post-launch slump.
Battlefield 6 launched late last year and quickly became a huge hit with critics and fans alike. Many claimed that Battlefield 6 was a return to form for the series after a couple of lackluster entries, bringing the franchise back to basics and building on its great large-scale FPS gameplay. But not everything has been good Battlefield since then. Despite Battlefield 6 is the biggest game of 2025, sold 20 million units and even surpassed Call of DutyBattlefield Studios was still hit with layoffs in 2026. On top of that, player sentiment has been steadily declining as fans continue to request more maps per season and more gameplay variety in each new map. As Season 2 draws to a close, players are hoping that the launch of Season 3 next week will begin to correct the course for Battlefield 6.

Update 1.2.3.5 is a relatively small update, but it contains some important changes that should have a big impact on the game before Battlefield 6Season 3 launches next week. One of the main changes in this update is the camera transition between first and third person when a player dies, which sometimes made it look like a player died while running behind cover. This little frustration i Battlefield 6 has been the bane of many players who felt the game's netcode was unfairly killing them. Under the hood updates like these help Battlefield to feel like a smoother, fairer experience, as a game of this size continues to iron out some wrinkles that have been around since launch.
Looking ahead, season 3 of Battlefield 6 launches on May 12 and will bring massive changes and brand new content. The upcoming 12-week season will bring a new version of Golmud Railway from Battlefield 4which will also be the largest map in the game to date, and an updated version of the Grand Bazaar, now called Cairo Bazaar. Season 3 will also feature ranked play and a solo mode for Battlefield REDSECas well as new weapons, modes and cosmetics as usual.

If Battlefield 6Whether Season 3 will be a hit and bring back its lost players remains to be seen. It seems like the community's main complaint is that the game lacks really massive, large-scale maps to suit one Battlefield the game is fixed with Railway to Golmud, but the fact that this is not a brand new map for Battlefield 6 may not sit well with all fans. What's more, there are still only two maps being added this season, which fans feel is insufficient given Battlefield 6s already small card pool. Hopefully, Golmud and Cairo Bazaar can create their own unique playstyles and game niches to give fans some variety as Season 3 continues through the summer.
