What are sprite bulbs used for in Mario and Luigi: Brotherhood

Sprite Bulbs are a collectible that usually appear on an island on your first visit, and more appear on a return visit to further encourage players to fast travel between islands, even after finishing the story there in Mario and Luigi: Brotherhood.

Although the use of Sprite Bulbs is not immediately known, it is best to start collecting them early. Rumbla Island is the first in the game, and after visiting it for the first time, you will be able to track down all the Sprite Bulbs on the island; here you will find them.

Where to find every Rumbla Island Sprite Bulb in Mario and Luigi: Brotherhood

Total there is 28 Sprite bulbs are found on the islandspread over 11 locations. After interacting with a Sprite Bulb and releasing them, they will run around and you simply need to catch up with them and make contact to collect them. Using Luigi Logic by pressing L will make him act independently and make it much easier to capture each light bulb.

The first two bulbs are right near the blue pipe as you enter the island. Along the far right of the peninsula comes a set at the bottom right and one roughly directly across to the left of the blue pipe.

The third Sprite Bulb location will be due north from where you entered the island along the left side of the path. There will then be two more Sprite Bulbs if you continue to the left over the flower.

The seventh Sprite Bulb is far to the right of the island from the previous ones. While the location of the light bulb is further north, head towards the flower at the bottom right of the map and use it to jump up onto the hill. On the way north you will find panels that each brother will have to jump on in order based on color and letter of the panel. On the far side will be another hill with a rock that can be smashed to reveal the Sprite Bulb.

The eighth Sprite Bulb location is found when you reach the town and go left. Near the save block you'll see a green L button that Luigi can press by hitting with his hammer to lower the bridge, with Bulb on the other side.

From the previous location, go to the far right of the island to find the ninth Sprite Bulb location.

Head further into the island and to the new eastern section now opened on your return visit, go to the middle section and down the hill to the yellow rock. Destroy the rock to drop the tenth Sprite Bulb.

The final Sprite Bulb location is just a section over to the left from where the previous one was, along the upper wall just as you enter the next clearing.

What are sprite bulbs used for in Mario and Luigi: Brotherhood

After getting a little further into the game, you'll unlock Battle Plugs, which are made with Sprite bulbs. Battle Plugs range widely from passive enhancements, like accessories, to active abilities to use in battle. Battle Plugs offer some of the best boosts or abilities, with later, stronger ones requiring players to craft the weaker ones first. To use some of the best Battle Plugs in the game, you'll need to craft a lot, which means you'll need a lot of Sprite Bulbs, so it's best to start collecting early.
